On my Certificate of Rabies for my dog, this box was checked: Prorab 3f-intervet. So I looked it up online and only found it used for Cats! Can anyone straighten this out for me.

I just adopted a boxer/lab from the pound a week ago. They guessed his age to be between around 6 months, maybe 9. He certainly had no previous training prior to me because he doesn't listen for the life of me. But that's not by biggest problem. He goes pee all over the house. At his age, he should not have to go out every half hour. This is my first dog and I'm clueless as how to get him to go potty outside only. I've done my fair share of reading up and right now, I'm taking him out right after he eats, plays and naps. He goes to the same area of the yard everytime and immediately relieves himself and I say "good boy" and he gets a treat. We go back inside and half hour later, he's going on the carpet. I skold him and then immediately take him back outside until he goes again, then he gets another treat and more praise. I think I'm doing things right, but how long does it take for him to only make his business outdoors???

I have a cocker spaniel who seems to have eaten the rind of at least one slice of watermelon. I have no idea why. It's not poisonous to dogs, is it? He's acting okay (other than the "guilty" expression once I discovered what he'd done). Thanks!

I'm not sure why, it doesn't happen a lot, but when it does it really does not look natural. I think it's mostly when she yawns that it does it. It's a visible almost looks like her teeth are chattering from cold kind of quiver.. I was just wondering if anyone knew anything that could cause this or if they had even seen this happen before..? And what can I do? I plan to ask next time she goes to the vet, but that won't be for a while and I'm not gonna pay an exam fee for just that!

I have an English Mastiff, my first one. I have been attributing some of her mannerisms to being a pup, but I am starting to wonder. I read a lot about mastiffs before I bought her and everything I read said they were very intelligent, but how smart is sitting in your own crap pile? This can't be normal, is it? I mean she does it all the time, not on purpose, but just doesn't seem to care. Anyone have an answer?

When I go out for a night of drinking I don’t hold back. However, this past weekend I became so intoxicated I was disoriented. Even worse, I had no perception where I was and almost got hit by a car. The bars I go to are pretty much in a 5 to 10 block range and I always walk. So my question is where can I buy or rent a Seeing Eye dog to bring out with me to the bars and most importantly guide me safely home?

I have a 3 m/o GSD that I've had for about 2 weeks now. He's a good puppy so far...other than not paying attention to me at times, but overall I'm very happy with his temperment. I bought a book today that scared me a little...it says that 80-90% of all GSD's at some point during adolescence (10-24 months) will try to gain control over it's owner(s) by "challenging" - them perhaps by ignoring commands or even with a growl, snarl or snap. If the dog senses the slightest bit of fear in you, he'll take over as "leader." The book goes on to say that physical or verbal punishment practices will increase the possibility that this "challenge" will be violent. Anyway my questions...
1.) Is this true? Any experiences with this behavior?
2.) How do you correct a puppy without verbal punishments such as "NO!"
3.) My fiance has a slight fear of bigger dogs (seems to love this puppy so far though). If he scares her someday in the future is he going to disrespect her forever?
Thanks

Besides going to the Vet, because she is very old, and it causes her too much pain to get in the car, so any suggestions?
And dont say shoot her or put her down, it isnt her time, she is still so full of life and such a part of our family.
I heard Glucosamine, any comments? Thanks.
She is a large black lab.
Symptoms are worse now with the cold weather.

Personally, i don't like little dogs as much as bigger dogs. I am not trying to say that i dislike all little dogs, but i have found in my experience that many of them are more yippy and agressive than larger ones. Again, don't get me wrong; i know many great, sweet and well behaved little dogs. But i just find that medium or large dogs in general are my favorite, because i find them to have great personalities and they are (in my opinion, please don't take offense) cuter.
(i am trying to be very careful about my wording here because i dont want to be mean to any little dogs or their owners! and remember i am not saying that i dislike all of them!)

Well anyways i was just wondering what your opinion is about little dogs and what you like/dislike about them.

I have 3 pom puppies about 5 wks old. They are doing really well on puppy mush. How do I introduce dry food? If I just put it out, is that okay or should I mix it with something? I put a plate of dry food for them today and they seemed to like it and eat it with no problems. Was I wrong to do that? I dont want anything to happen to them just because I dont know any better. Thanks.

Charlie is shih tzu / pomeranian, 4 months old. We've had him for 5 days. At first he was very quiet. He bonded with my 8 year old daughter which we expected cuz she's naturally maternal. Charlie barks at my 10 year old son when he comes into the room, whether my daughter is there or not. Also, Charlie won't go to ANYBODY if my daughter is there. When she's not around, she still doesn't show an interest in my other 2 kids. Will this change? When we picked him from the litter, he was fine with all 3 kids, going back & forth between them. My heart is breaking for my other 2 kids!!! HELP!
