Charlie is shih tzu / pomeranian, 4 months old. We've had him for 5 days. At first he was very quiet. He bonded with my 8 year old daughter which we expected cuz she's naturally maternal. Charlie barks at my 10 year old son when he comes into the room, whether my daughter is there or not. Also, Charlie won't go to ANYBODY if my daughter is there. When she's not around, she still doesn't show an interest in my other 2 kids. Will this change? When we picked him from the litter, he was fine with all 3 kids, going back & forth between them. My heart is breaking for my other 2 kids!!! HELP!

You need to have the all the kids hand feed Charlie. Let them take turns sitting on the floor and feeding one piece at a time. If the puppy won't go to them just wait him out, he will give in, DO NOT let the kids go to him,he MUST go to them for the food. They should tell him "good boy" every time he takes a piece of kibble from them.

I wholeheartedly agree with the thought process here! Reinforce with food and believe me your little pup will come along! He is very young and there is a lot of adjustment on everyones part. Don't worry, it will be fine.

I have a 4 year old Shih Tzu that I adopted at two. It took her a bit, but what a wonderful breed.

Good luck to you!

all new puppy bond with one person first but the fact that the puppy is barking at Ur son and hubby ... alot of dogs just don't like men... eventually Ur puppy will grow out of it hey sometimes it just takes weeks to grow out of it just have Ur daughter sit next to the son and hubby with Ur daughter holding the puppy and have Ur son and hubby pet the dog that's really all the advice i can give u on this one as dogs grow out of that stuff but I'm guessing that the puppy wont like most males that walk into Ur house ... sorry just force the dog to sit near the men and hopefully that will stop..

Do you know anything about this dog before it came to you? It may hve been abused by a male and that is why it acts that way. Time and love should solve the problem.

my chihuahuas hate men when I started dating my boyfriend he gave plenty of treats and the way to their little hearts was through their stomachs try having the males of the house give treats and speak soothingly
