My yorkie is having bad congestion and trying to clear an air passage constantly... we thought maybe he'd get better over the weekend but he's really having problems... its Sunday so he can't go to vet today, is there somethign we can do in the meantime??? would a small dab of vicks vaporrub on his chest be a bad idea? or maybe a tiny bit of decongestant??? ANYTHING? I feel soooo bad for him but I dont want to hurt him either....

So to give you more detail, my puppy will be alone at home for 5 hrs. (Only on Mon. on the other days it's going to be supervised all the time!) Since its ONLY 3 months old I can't expect to hold their pee/poop in, that would be cruel! So, I was thinking of training it to use the litter box, so that when it has to "go" it can go! Or should I put newspaper in there so it can go???
I'm not completely sure, but I'm thinking of going with the litter box, I've read methods of how to train it to use the litter box too. I wanted to know what you think about my choices, if you have another idea please pass it by me, thank you =)

The food I feed my dog right now, Authority Harvest Baked, is all natural ingredients, and is healthy for dogs... But the only bad thing about it is Whole Ground Wheat which the the 2nd ingredient... Why is wheat so bad for dogs? Will wheat affect my dog's health later in his years?

Please help. My dog has always lived with severe allergies. She licks paws until raw - summer is the worst. Vet has her on 3 25mg pills of benedryl per day as well as a prednisone tablet daily. This has helped stop the licking almost completely. Now she has developed very (and i mean severe) scaly skin on her back. There are spots all over her back - many are scabs. We feed her canned Purina Pro Plan salmon/rice formula - she won't eat dry food anymore. Just trying to find an answer for her poor back at this point. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!!

He is a little long haired chihuahua and is 10 weeks old. He bites and chews anything and everything he sees. I do have puppy toys and bones but he still likes to chew rugs, furniture, kids toys, etc. I know this is normal puppy behavior, but I have heard it is a bad habit that you don't want them to continue.

I know you can have a horse registered as 2 breeds, but what about dogs? I know of a guy who has a Bichon Maltese cross and he says he can get registration papers if he wants. I don't think the papers he can get would be AKC, CKC or UKC because his dog is a mixed breed. Or is this just another gimmik from a backyard breeder trying to sell his pups for more. BTW it'll cost $1000 for the papers if wants them.

I just noticed today that my pup, she's almost a year old, has thick yellow pee, and bloody urine. I will be making a vet appointment tomorrow, it's sunday now and they are not open. I am assuming this is a bladder infection, anyone have any feedback about this. I am worried.

If a puppy is not purchased at a pet store, what happens to them? Where do they go? Does anyone have any sort of documentation on what goes on when the puppy gets too old?

I have a black lab/border collie mix. He is scared to death of thunderstorms. (or any loud noise for that matter) He will shake and pant through the whole thing. The only thing I can do is open my closet door and let him hide in there. Is there anything I can do to prevent this? He is 6 years old and has always been like this.
My other dog just paces but only because (I think) the lab is so scared.

We just moved to a new state with colder temperatures and she seems to be shedding much more than usual. She is a Red Healer/ Australian Shepherd mix and is about six years old. How much shedding is normal and is there any way to control it?

I've always loved and had many animals since I was a child. I've been looking for a job where I can get paid to enjoy working with them but having a hard time because of my area. It's ethier they are not hiring or they just need voluteers. I would volunteer but I really need the money. I already looked on asburyparkpressonline, craiglist, and even went into petshops and asked if they were hiring. Does anyone else know where I can look for a job with animals? All answers would be so greatly appreciated! Thanks

I heard many years ago there was a dogs dinner dance, they all hung up their tails in the cloakroom, unfortunately there was a fire and in the rush to get out they all grabbed the wrong tail, so now they are forever searching for their own tail?
