ALL pups are hyper, regardless of breed. It is nature's way of getting them to learn, and they all calm down when they near adulthood.
Just try to be patient---and don't leave ANYTHING in reach that you wouldn't want chewed up!

Beagles are very hyper. There is a huge difference between Hyper dogs and High-Energy dogs. I have a mini australian shepherd and it is high-energy - he always is ready to go running or for a walk he loves running like a bullet across the yard! But he is never bouncing off the walls because he is not "hyper". Good luck with your beagle. The only thing I can think of as a solution os gove him LOTS of walks a day. Run or --- if you have kids -- have your kids run with it. The only way I can think of to calm him down is excercise - the more the better. Good Luck! In my experience they calm down with age. Please please please stick with the dog --- do whatever you can so that he is not put in an animal shelter. It is not his fault that he is hyper , it is not yours either, he (or she) was just born that way. Once again - Good Luck!

beagles can be a very hiper dog and they will get out of a penned in area in a heartbeat. We had one and we loved him so much they have the sweetest temperment.

Oh, yeah. They're crazy hyper puppies. Mine literally bounced off the walls. She'll settle down as she gets a little older.
