I heard it's much harder to adopt from a rescue group. Are the dogs treated much better and are healthier than they are at the pound?

Okay I want another dog, but my dad said no.We already have two dogs. I want it to be a small dog like a Mini long haired Doxien. But my dad wants a Dobermen Pincher. And I think I should have a say in this. How could I talk to my dad about seeing my point of view? And what are some ideas of small dogs that are really cute?

But if she can get to carpet or even a throw rug, she will pee on it, but not linoleum or our wood floors. Why? Why? WHY? Andf what do I do about it? I can't even have an area rug for fear she'll pee on it!

The dog is from a rescue centre, is 12 months old and sometimes becomes very agitated at night, looking up at lights and trying to get away from them.

He's 8 mos old, been neutered and nothing keeps him away from our hands and feet. He's a Shitzu with a cute personality but he chases our feet when we walk - and we've tried it all...and when we go to bed all he wants is our hands to chew on. He has chew toys, we've been consistent in his training and are at a loss. Any, any suggestions...please help.

Alright- so my dog was sitting where we couldn't see him- and he ended up chewing through the electrical cord to the laptop computer. He's alive. He appears to be doing fine- he jumped away after getting a shock. I finally got him to let me look into his mouth- the upper part is totally fine... but the front part behind his front teeth is black (we're wondering if its because its burnt or because the black of the cord melted and coloured it that). The colour isn't a deep black, more of a greyish colour and his teeth are totally white. My dog is a 21 week old puppy. Anywho, he can eat fine, and he drinks water fine- and appears to be fine. But I wonder- is there anything that we can do to help him? and to make sure he doesn't get an infection and heals fast?

Would it be best to crate train them or have them learn to use a doggydoor? Is it too late?
My boy is neutered but still likes to mark places and it can be quite bothersome.

I want some sort of dog, or puppy, that is small but not tooo small, cute, but doesn't shed alot, and not hairless. Something that's good around children, and other dogs, and quiet enough so they don't bother adults, is there even an animal that exists?

i have a welsh corgi...he's prob. the best dog in the world. i know that most people say this about thier dog, but mine really is. he's really really smart, never ever disobediant (i can take him on walks next to the street w/ out a lease, and he stays right with me). he's always happy, but not stupidly so. he's nice to all people and all dogs. so i want to know does anyone have a corgi that is different, or a dog that compares?

My dog, a young black lab mix, was introduced to my two younger cousins today.

The girl is about 16 and her younger brother is 12.

He got along fine with the girl but acted very aggressive towards the boy. He growled, barked, his fur stood on end and he was very agitated. He made no move to actually harm him in the short period that they were together but he got pretty scary.

He has never, not once, acted this way towards anyone. He's a very quiet, affectionate dog who generally just wants to play. He thinks he's a big lap dog. He's very well trained and listens to us with no problems what so ever. He's basically the perfect dog. He's never shown aggression towards any person or another dog before, stranger or otherwise. He's very well socialized.

What could have been the problem?

My lab is terrified of any children under age 10 and I don't know why? He has never had a bad experience with children in all the years that I have had him. Whenever a child wants to pat him I make sure that they pat him calmy and nicely but he absolutely hates it and tries to run away. Its not a fear of strangers because he is not like this with adults? How can I make him not afraid?
