I appreciate the serious answers. I love my dog dearly and would never do anything to harm him. I saw a recipe for dog treats and wanted to try it, but wanted to be sure it was safe. Thanks for the info.

White chocolate is not even chocolate.

It is infact cocoa butter without the cocoa solids. And therefore does not contain theobromides the ingredient that will harm dogs.

As it is made with the fats of the process and more sugar than regular chocolate it is unfit for dogs health.

Better to stick with carob treats for that taste of chocolate without the harmful effects.

white chocolate is just as harmful as regular chocolate is, but............your dog would have to eat more than his body weight to die or get real sick. a lick of an ice cream cone wont make your dog sick. also, bakers chocolate is a whole different story. They can only have a very small amount of that to make them real sick. that is way more harmful to them than regular chocolate. just do go feeding your dog that, but like i said earlier, a few licks of ice cream is really no big deal. oh, and chocolate doesn't give your dog worms as stated previosly by someone.

Chocolate isn't good no matter what color. But there is a substitute that they can have Carob, if you use it as you would chocolate chips or coco powder you really can't tell the difference. Alot of health food stores carry it in both forms and alot of dog food and treat companies use it in their products.

Isn't this some kind of message from wacky world where people believe that dogs are really just hairy humans and because we want dogs to worship us we want to kiss up to them by trying to find a chocolate that they can eat without killing them. Because we are sure that a dog would want chocolate. That kind of love is great and really good for the dog, may he/she rest in peace.

NO chocolate (milk, dark, white, bakers, etc.) is good for dogs. It is true that different types of chocolate have different levels of theobromine (fromt he cocoa bean), but chocolate just should not be fed to dogs, period.

See below web site for details.

chocolate in general is bad for dogs. in truth, chocolate is technically a poison to dogs. the high amounts of sugar are very poisonous, among other things. Stick to dog treats and dog food, with the occasional cheese-it! to treat your dog, go to your butcher shop and ask for cow bones they are going to throw out!

it doesnt harm them but it is not good for dogs to eat pepple food and it can cause health issues, so i would just stick to dog food, plus it could make your dogs fat and it would also encourage begging.
