Try to do a Google search on conterconditioning. You could probably use the same methods that others use for thunderstorms - working on gradually building a positive association with the lights. (Are these moving lights?) Can you also give him a visual break by covering the crate he's in? Awww, god bles him, try leaving lights on during the day too, that way he doenst see them lighting up at once. He was probably terribly abuse and lights just remind him that. Be with him a lot and confort him when you ligth up make him feel secure with you and the lights. have you ask the people you got him from is theres any other thing you can do/Good luck

i think you should sorta "train" the dog not to
put him by the light, kinda force him by the light, but still far away

then when he is ok with it have him be a little closer and a little bit closer till he isnt afraid of it anymore

try putting nightlights down at his level it might be that he just needs a little time to adjust to new surroundings speak calmly and lovingly to him he will grow out of it
