Your brother probably demonstrated dominate behavior while the dog was still a puppy where the rest of you did not. Now the dog sees him as dominate, but thinks that he is dominate over you. Dogs are pack animals and dominance roles are crucial to their behavior.

My guess is that your brother is who the dog views as being the "alpha" member of your family pack, or the most dominant.

If the rest of your family takes turns bossing the dog around (and I don't mean being rude, I simply mean asking the dog to perform simple tasks before being rewarded with attention, food, or other "good" things) then your dog will most likely begin to see that its position in the family is lowest on the ladder.

Dogs are pack animals and they respond to structure and rules. Make sure that you have a good family structure set up. When the dog does nip or bite others in play, stop play immediately, give the firm command, "NO BITE," and ignore your dog for about 5 minutes. After that, ONLY talk to your dog again once it has successfully performed a task for you, such as "Bingo, COME. SIT." Wait until your dog has done what you ask, and stick to a firm schedule of this reward system.

That should help with the behavior.

Some dogs take to one personally naturally, it is more common in some breeds than others.

When I was younger my parents for me a Shiba Inu femae. I loved her so much. But try and I might, she just didn't seem too interested in my and instead would follow my older brother like a shadow.

When he moved out I just let him take her with him, since she obviously liked him more.

Generally, it isn't a big deal but if the dog is aggressive towards other family members you may want to contact a behavioral specialist.

Katy has the best answer. She is exactly right. You (and the rest of your family) are ranked lower in the pack than the dog and your brother.

he thinks your brother is his boss. dogs nip and jump on people they either feel equal or superior to. if your dog puts his foot on you, he feels superior. does the dog turn his belly up to your brother, too? look at how your brother treats him and see what's different; it could be something as simple as tone of voice, or it could be that your brother knows how to speak "dog" and therefore knows what signals he is giving to and getting from Fido.
read some good dog books and you'll figure it out, too

Your brother has established dominance somehow. The rest of the family hasn't.

The reason that your dog only follows your brother because the dog has a special person that he loves more. Like with my cats... My cat Noel only let me hold him... only slept with me. But my other cat only liked my mother. You see we all like different people just like your dog likes your brother.

Different breeds can be more devoted to a single person, such as German Shepherds.

Heck. Maybe your brother is just more fun. Haha.

That's what my dog did to me when we first got him. It was because i spent the most time with him and played with him.
