Just curious on how most people punish their pups, I have a 6 week old pitbull pup and I treat her just like my kids...I never hit her, I tap her on the nose with one finger if she bites with a stern NO! and it works just fine, she learns so fast :) i also spoil her rotten I think because she cuddles with me in bed all night long and kicks it on the couch....she is just like a furry kid to me :) So How do you punish your pup?

I think my Jack Russell may have gotten pregnant by a neighborhood Bassett Hound ( he broke into our fence)...Should I get her an abortion? Will these puppies be too big for her? This would be her second litter the first were Corgis. What should I do?

I currently have 2 Shelties. I love Shelties and have had them all my life but I'm not really interested in showing or breeding them. I do agility and obedience with mine and they aren't show quality. Sheltie breeding and competing is just too competitive. I want a breed that requires less grooming and maybe isn't as popular. I would only start off with one of course! I would look for a show quality puppy and do conformation with it and see how it goes! I also want an intelligent breed because Shelties have spoiled me, they are so smart! I have lots of room and tons of time to dedicate and of course, lots of love to give!

My dog is microchipped, and I was wondering where it is embedded under his skin.

My yorkie is 7mths old. Yesterday he started to drool. He hasn't have this problem before. He would layed on my couch and there would be a small wet spot that was left by his drool. His nose is more wetter than usual. Is this normal? What could this mean? The drooling and wetter nose? He is eating the same. He is active as usual. So don't understand.

...that basically, in a nice way, tells people that they're in you dog's home, and if they don't like your dog they can leave?

It sounds mean, but it wasn't. I remember seeing it somewhere a LONG time ago in someone's house. It was on a plaque or in a frame and it was written in a cutsey, almost country/Americana kind of way.

Does this ring ANY bells for anyone? I'd love to have this for my house/dog, but I can't remember the poem to even begin to look for it.

I'm looking for personal recommendations on Irish setter breeders. The breeder I used previously was Kenmore. But I can't seem to find anything about them online, so maybe they aren't around anymore.

Yes, I know I can get a list of breeders from AKC. The link is broken for the Irish setter breeder directory. But even so, the names mean nothing to me without personal recommendations.

Please don't bother lecturing me about what Irish setters are like and what I need to do to be a responsible owner for one. I know already; I've had them before.

I am considering buying a puppy and love the look of Chow Chows. I am just wondering if they have any sort of health problems that I should be aware of, what their temperment is like, etc?

Home is not where the heart is - it's where the dog is.

My dog is usually an outside dog, but I brought him in for the winter. He doesn't really know how to behave inside, and for the longest time my kids would try to get him to play, but he didnt know how. He knows how to play now, but when he does, he bites the kids. He doesn't bite hard, and I can't punish him for it, because I know he's only playing. But I want my kids to be able to play with him, and not worry about them getting bit.

He's half pit, and half............we don't know what the father is. But him and the mother have one of the greatest temperments i've ever seen on a dog! My 2 yo son pulls his tail, and walks on his tail and legs, and falls all over him, and my dog just sits there and stares at him, like "are you having fun??". So I know my dog wouldn't hurt him on purpose. He gets excited when they play.

I just caught my 8 month old, 52 pound dog chewing an ant trap!
It is one of the plastic ones. She didn't get it open, but I could see bite marks and some of the stuff on the inside! I gave her water and let her outside.

We have had the house for 2 years. It was from the old owner. I know it was from behind the furnace because I just had the water heater replaced and noticed it on the floor.

Do you think she will be OK? She seems to be right now.

I have been told that vets do not want pet owners to know about this because it could harm thier business. They want you to pay £50 for a medicine where the human variant costs £5 and is just as effective. They do seem to have a bit of a monoploy here and obviously want it to stay that way.
