If purebreds are so healthy and worthy of being bred, then why are the ones that are bred *certain breeds* so prone to problems giving birth? We generally don't think it's a good idea for people who are near guarunteed problems in the delivery room to have children, what makes purebred dogs so different?
Breeders are losing fuction to form, and if we don't change some breeds from being almost c-section only, purebred prices are going to continue rising. A few years ago, my neighbor paid $600 for an English bulldog. Recently, she's been in the market and I think she said they were going to charge her $2000 for the puppy. Do you see my point?
If anyone has a list of birthrates and such for purebred AKC dogs, I'm interested in it so that I can add more truly concrete details vs. what I already know, which is mostly what people on this site have answered me.
And with purebreds, it's supply and demand. I plan to let the world know that. Read on into the question....

I really love the "Barkless" dog--Basenji, and am having serious thought for buying a puppy. But of course, I have to do some research on it before making final decision. I checked out many sites and books, they all have the same conclusion--it's a breed known for being aloof, very dignified, and strong-willed...plus, it takes a lot of time and skills to effectively train this breed of dog; but even intensive and effective training won't guarantee well-behaveness...

She is on 7 units of insulin twice a day. I don't think there is a Vet here (KC) That has a clue. I just did the research & helped her with Omega fish oil for her arthritis The Vet was sceptical. But it is working. Also it is helping some people I know. Thank You for all the other answers I just forgot to mention the most important part,

I just bought a tiny two-month Jack Rassel Terrier (forgive my spelling, please correct me if I'm tottaly wrong, but I'm not American or British!!!).
It's a boy and I'm looking for a name to call it.
I know that now he looks pretty and cute, but I wouldn't like to give him a cute name because one day he'll no longer be a puppy...
So I need sth masculine.
Not like "Hercules" or anything but...you know...

I just got a puppy which is a mixed breed between a pitt bull and a chow chow. I have kids and I am a little concern about her behavior when she gets older. I've heard a lot about pitt bulls and how dangerous they can be, but my kids love their new pet and she is so cute she is only 6 weeks old and is already big for her age. I need to find out the characteristic and behavior of this mixed breed and how dangerous can get in the future. I don't know much about dogs and haven't been able to find the information I need. thank you for you information and comments I really appreciate it.

Ya. My dane is quite tall now. But, its a name to have a taller than normal dane. However, he is grown pretty big now i know. Guys .... i wanted thim to grow to his maximum possible and not i want him to be stunted, never!!!
I was just worried if he is been given adequate nutrients he needs.
One of my friend here said his height 34" at shoulders at 11 months, shows that he has recieved excess proteins that he normally needs for a healthy growth. And also said, my home cookd meal for him do not much give him the sufficient nutrients he needs for his healthy growth. And when i said i feed him chkn every 3 days once , he said its not good . And grains shud be fed less than meet. PLease guys tell me, ( i kno dogs are not grain eaters) I do not get a right answer for what shud be the meat diet for dane. WHich do you prefer........... Lamb? chkn? beef? why? And what shud be the quantity, frequency, and all the details plz?

Disclaimer: No. I don't want a Golden Retriever. That's why it's not on the list.

I have researched the breeds I listed, don't tell me to research them. I am looking for input from people who have owned or have experience with these dogs, excludind bulldogs. I know little about them other than they are lazy and affectionate.

Question: Which should I get? Smooth Fox Terrier, Bull Terrier, Mini Bull Terrier, a type of Bulldog.

I plan on getting two.

Bull Terrier, Mini Bull Terrier, Smooth Fox Terrier, some kind of Bulldog.

I want a dog who will play all the time and who will be affectionate.

I confess I dont know anything about Bulldogs. T_T
