when it starts biting, just hold his head so that it is looking at your in the eyes and tell him no firmly. dont look away until he does. it will let him know that you mean no when you say it, and then no works SOO much better in other situations. my BF likes to get the dog (6 months old) WILD to the point that she wants to bite everyone cause she can never get ahold of him to bite when they are playing, so eventually he has to calm her down and he flips her on her back and hold her there and climbs over her and wont let go until she is completely calm (usually a minute or two). but it works great. after that she is done, she knows that its game over and she is completely calm

Supposing that your puppy is fairly young and that she is a recent acquisition, I suggest you start off by establishing your role as Alpha within the home. When you play chase-games with her, always let her chase you, NOT the other way around. When she bites you during the game, STOP. Don't allow her to play with you anymore. Stop the game completely and ignore her. Dogs are pack animals and constantly want attention from the leader. If you ignore her and refuse to play with her while she exhibits unwanted behaviours, then she will begin to realize that biting is something wrong. Playing should be a fun activity, but she also needs to know that your involvement with her is a privilege.
As far as her whining when you leave her alone in a room, new puppies will do that for a time. They want to know if you'll come running to comfort them and give them what they want if you hear a noise. If you've already made the mistake of doing this, it's not too late! It will just take a little more time and effort on your part. When you put her in a room, make sure she has access to water and that there are some approved chew toys for her. Another good idea is to put a pillow or dog bed in the room so that she has something comfortable to lay on should she get bored. If and when she does whine, ignore the sound as best you can. She'll eventually stop when she realises that you aren't coming. When you go to let her out, praise her for being a good girl if she doesn't start the crying when she hears you approach. If she does start up, change direction and leave her be until she stops. This method does work, as I am the proud owner of 5 dogs (all of different breeds except 2), it just takes time and lots of patience.

Best of luck!

The whining more than likly is just her wanting attention and to play. you have to learn to ignore her so she can learn to intertain herself with the toys you provide her,but you can't just ignore her all the time in case she is trying to tell you something like she has to go out. The biting is harder. She will grow out of it some but you cannot give her a reason to keep biting. Tell her no and change the tone of your voice. She will start to pick up on the difference. You need to try and talk to your vet or even the local pet store on more ideas.

For my Whining puppy, I give her a treat when she whines, I condition her to realizing that she is telling me while whining, she is hungry. After a while If she has been good , like not tearing or scratching, I allow her her roam the house and settle down on the floor, it works, she is less fussy now when we leave her on the back patio or for work.

For biting I usually don't allow anyone to grab the dog's nose or mouth. I have noticed that dogs that get played by grabing their "snout" tend to get a little too rough after time, and then they tend to reciprocate what they have learned.

You can't train just one thing---& you don't say how old the dog is or the breed, but no matter. YOU must be in charge. Get some Bitter Apple in the pump (not aerosol) & spray what she tries to bite every day, while you also grab her collar (she needs one with a 'tab'---a 5-6 inch 'leash') pull her off, & say, "No!", & give her a nylabone or a filled Kong...but I'll bet she's out of control in other ways. She needs a crate to be her bed, & you have to teach her to walk on a lesash & come when called, & you must be consistent or you are actually 'training' her NOT to obey. Best to find a group class if you have never trained a dog, & get a copy of, "How to be Your Dog's Best Friend," by the Monks of New Skete.

When she tryes to play she bites this is very normal, you need to give her chew toys. Your puppy is teething and they need to chew on something, when she bites stick the toy in her mouth. And she need to get used to being left alone. Ignore the whining and eventually she'll stop.

maybe the puppy is teething and needs to chew on things right now....you could try going to the pet store and getting a couple of teething toys for her...when she starts biting someone say no...and then give her a teether and tell her good girl....let her know this is something she can chew on....

Please, no alpha rolls! They are truly ineffective as punishers, and you will be teaching your dog to mistrust you. There's a lot of info available that will help you to stop the puppy from biting, but your whole family must agree to be consistent with this. Links below:

Dont hit your dog, but you can say no in a stern, serious voice. Shake a can of pennies. Watch the Dog Whisperer. Or take your dog to a professional trainer if you cant or dont want to train your dog yourself. Also, if your dog is biting you, tell him no, then give him a chew toy.

i have a puppy and shes finally getting out of that phase....i read this book that says you need to become the "alpha dog" here are some simple tips..

enter doorways first
when playing games like tug of war win at least 80% of the time
when eating meals, eat first, then let your puppy eat

to make your dog listen to you stand up straight and use a strict voice, make sure its low, not high...

I hoped i helped!!
