How do I tell if the breeder is telling me the truth about this one being a mini? There are to be akc papers issued... is it typical for the "mini" designation to be on these papers? All Dachshund pups I have seen are tiny, but I know some get quite large.

Currently trying to potty train her, I have a crate that she continuously goes to the bathroom in , even if I take her out all the time. I come home on lunch break after her being confined for 5 hours and then again after 4 hours, she is still going in her crate. She is being fed Iams puppy food (hard). I praise her all the time after she has gone potty outside. When I take her out I tell her to "go potty" most times she does both, not all the time. What am I doing wrong. Also, I can stay out there for 30 minutes and wait for her to poop and she won't 5 minutes in the house and she will.
I live in Illinois, weather varies from snow.

my 11 year old pomerian dog had suddenly fallen sick . I took her to the doctor. She was vomiting and not eating anything .After 3 days of suffering she died The night before she died she came in the balcony where i was sitting and stood there motionless for 2-3 minutes . I was scared to see her like that . She had given a sign that she was dying but i had to save her i quickly decided to feed her with water to save her from dehyration and stuff. since she was not taking water on her own so i filled a 5ml syringe which is abt 2-3 spoons with sugar water. the water went into her mouth with a pressure and she started to cough . & then she was vomiting the water out ,was not able to take it in. Then in the night after 3-4 hours she died . Now i feel guilty that was it because of the water 2-3 spoons only going with a force that she died , But i feel even if the water had gone into her lungs only 2-3 spoons cold not be harmful . What do u feel ? please help me , i feel very guilty

I will be moving from a house with three dogs and 5 people to an apartment with just me and my one dog. In the past when he's been left completely alone, he is known to cry. He gets lots of playtime during the day and has the option of his crate at all times (which he does enjoy but is never 'locked in'). I give him special toys and treats when he is alone and leave the tv or the radio on, but he still cries! Any other sugestions? Thanks!

I have had him from a home for about 3 weeks and have tried tugging on his lead and saying no every time he pulls but he wont answer. He doesnt want treats when he is out, he takes them in his mouth and puts them on the floor (he loves them in the house). I have tried keeping him close to my leg, even when he stops to sniff he will then sprint ahead as if to make up ground. I dont know what will get through to him. Once he has had a run off his lead he walks home and is great, no pulling, but I dont want to have to tire him out every time we want a nice walk, as with the dark nights there are only limited times I can let him off his lead in fields.

When I recently purchased a puppy I was told that it was a female, just shy of six weeks old. After 11/2 weeks my puppy appears to have male genitalia. Is it that difficult to determine the gender of a small puppy? I will be taking him or her to the vet this week. Just thought I could get a good answer from someone on this site.
