my 11 year old pomerian dog had suddenly fallen sick . I took her to the doctor. She was vomiting and not eating anything .After 3 days of suffering she died The night before she died she came in the balcony where i was sitting and stood there motionless for 2-3 minutes . I was scared to see her like that . She had given a sign that she was dying but i had to save her i quickly decided to feed her with water to save her from dehyration and stuff. since she was not taking water on her own so i filled a 5ml syringe which is abt 2-3 spoons with sugar water. the water went into her mouth with a pressure and she started to cough . & then she was vomiting the water out ,was not able to take it in. Then in the night after 3-4 hours she died . Now i feel guilty that was it because of the water 2-3 spoons only going with a force that she died , But i feel even if the water had gone into her lungs only 2-3 spoons cold not be harmful . What do u feel ? please help me , i feel very guilty

I'm so sorry for your loss, hun. To put your mind at ease, 5 ml is actually only one teaspoon of liquid, not 2 or 3. From the sounds of it, the pressure was enough to make some of the water go into her lungs, but she was able to cough that out. Otherwise she would have coughed and coughed and collapsed right then. What went into her stomach was rejected, just like before you gave her the water, and she vomited that out. You did what you felt was right to help your little girl, and you have nothing to feel guilty about. God Bless the furry angels...Blessings

It sounds like she as well loved and cared for. You took her to the vet and at the end, you did everything you could do with love.

It was the illness that killed her, not the care you were taking with her when she was so sick. The water wouldn't have harmed her or went into her lungs.

My pom died when he was 2 of a seizure disorder and I spent weeks wondering if somehow he'd eaten something or if I'd done something to make him sick. It's a natural thing to feel when a pet we love so much dies and there's nothing we can do for them.

I'm sorry for your loss and I hope that when you're over the pain, you'll see that you didn't do anything to hurt her.

i think your dog had a good life with you, and you should not feel guilty cuz i seriously doubt water is the cause of her death. she was sick, and if vet couldn't help her, you certainly did your best. but if you cant get it off your mind, talk to the vet, he should reassure you.
