Normal animals like dogs or any animal cannot take water into the lungs because even a drop of it when it gets inside the trachea (pathway going to lungs) will cause coughing because it is a foreign body. It will cause aspiration pneumonia if the volume is more even for a half a cc. If water is absorb, then definitely it will become a pneumonia especially if the water is not sterile ,and it will be a difficult problem because even with a lot of antibiotics, it might not recover.

Dog lungs are not made to absorb water I think your thinking of a dogfish.

i think dogs should drink as much water as they wish to cos dog like all mammals our bodies are made up of 75% of water. moreover lungs are not meant to take water.

Absolutely none! One can drown on a teaspoon of water.. And even if they do not drown, they can get pneumonia very quickly..
