That's preety young to go into heat but I think it's possible. I think your other dog is just more interested now because it's older and easier to play with now. Just to be safe, why not get the male neutered until she's old enough to spay? I'm assuming you don't want them to have puppies, so don't take a chance! In the meantime, keep them separated.

A dog's first heat cycle is around 6 months of age which DOES NOT MEAN THEY'RE READY TO HAVE PUPS. Your dog will not get pregnant until she's in esterus

If a dog has a litter too early, it will often reject the pups (leaving you with the full time raising of a litter or a litter of dead pups). An early pregnancy can also drain too much from a young dog's body and cause premature death. Labor can also put too much strain on a dog who's too young for it.

Your dog should be spayed and so should the other family dog who obviously isn't neutered if you're worried about pregnancy.

There's an excellent article about breeding/spaying/neutering here:

It's something anyone who has any thoughts of puppies should read!!!

It is a remote possibility however puppies smell completely different to adult dogs and this could be the reason for the interest of the other dog.
Any animal can come into season early but i do think this is a little early, do you know the exact age of the puppy as i had a puppy that was extremely tiny and i was told her age and beleived it, however months went by and sh didn't really grow that much more but her tummy did!!
I took her to the vets a few times and they just beleived that she was just a slow grower, but a few more months went by and then out popped puppies!! Well it was a supprise and she never really grew, she was just small for her breed and pregnant when she had her first season which was just before we got her.
So we ended up with a few more dogs than we bargined for but happy homes for them to go to.
Just thought i would let you know that as i thought i knew her age you go by the breeder and i ended up with a small dog and puppies!!

in my experience with dogs, a dog will show an interest in a ***** whatever her age, your female can only become pregnant when she is fully in season but this wouldn't be a good idea at her young age. bitches normally have their first season at around 6 months

She should be coming in now?
Er Dogs start their cycles at diffent ages.

NEVER breed your ***** before 12 mth preferably 2 years.

If shes not in heat she cant have pups simple as that.

usually around 6 months they start to come into season, and they can get pregnant then, because she is so young you might of not noticed that she was in season, you can have an injection 4 days after she was mated and then again 2 days later, so ring your vets now, she is to young to go through it, and you might loss her.

not possible. Bitches are only fertile and will noly accept mating, when they are in season.
