My mother has told me that she wants to buy a dog. We are both currently researching a breed that would fit best with her lifestyle, and I was wondering if anybody could help us.

Because of my mother's declining health, she will not be able to take care of a dog that needs to be walked more than once a day. We are looking for a dog that would be content just playing indoors or keeping her company. Also, I don't want a dog that is big enough to knock her over.

We were thinking about getting either a whippet or a boston terrier. Does anyone have any better suggestions? Thanks.

I have two chihuahuas that have been spoiled all their life.... steak, chicken, ribs, pizza toppings, chicken jerky, beef jerky, etc.

Now they won't eat any canned dog food or dry food.... what can I feed them other than table scraps?????

I am getting an 8 week male maltipoo. He is about 1.2 pounds. I want to train him to go inside because I live in an apartment and go to school (I dont work), therefore it will be easier to litterbox train him, any ideas about that? Is this not a good idea? The breeder told me to buy a toddler play pen and put his food and bed on one end and puppy pads on the other end of the play pen. How well do you think this will work in house training him. Later on, when he is older and bladder stronger I want to train him to go outside, but right now since is bladder is so small I know during the week I can not take him outdoor every hour or every two hours because I have class. So in the future I want him to go outside, but if I am not home be able to use the doggy litter. Do you think this is a reasonable expectation. When I get the puppy next week I will have a lot of free time to train him to the doggy litter, and the breeder has already been training him on puppy pads.

The choke collar makes my dogs eyes pop out of her head (literally). She's a corgi and I'm having a hell of a time teaching her heel! So I thought either a halter or harness would be easier to use when doing heel lessons. Any heel command tips are also appreciated!

My parents have a 1 1/2 year old yellow lab. Recently, she has been acting very weird. Sometimes, she will not come into the kitchen and whine and cry because we are in there. Her back paws will not leave the living room carpet leading into the kitchen. Could it be her eyesight or ghosts? We do believe there is a ghost in our house...my mother has actually felt someone poke her before and no one was there. My mom has tried once telling the ghost to go back in the basement and to leave the dog alone, and then the dog did come into the kitchen, but this hasn't worked recently. Any ideas?

He is a really great dog. He is current on his shots, neutered and 1 1/2 years old. He is a black lab x. He is very cute, friendly and good with people and kids. He would never hurt a fly. We just found out that my baby is allergic to him so we can't have him in the house anymore. He loves to be outside, but where we live he has to be tied up. He weights 130 lbs and he needs his room to run. He has been a great dog for us and we are really sad to see him go, but I can't watch him everyday on that chain, only getting to come off when we walk him. Now that it is getting colder outside I really want to find him a go home. He has a nice dog house that my husband buildt for him and we will give him free to a good home. Please email me if you are interested in him his name is Onyx. Thank you. My email is kaiser2befreed@yahoo.com

My lab is 5 months old and I would say 4 times out of 10 he will not retrieve a thrown toy. Is this because he is too young or is it because they have to be trained to retrieve? I thought being a labrador it was in his genes to retrieve anything that moved!

My German Shepherd Mix, Spooky, (she is about 2 years old) She lives at my uncles house, I visit her all the time, but I cannot get her to stay at my uncles. She has lived with my uncle for about 1 year now. Before that she lived with one of my neighbors. She is just now starting to wander all over town, the only way I can think of to keep her home is to chain her up, but i can't do that ALL of the time. I also can't lock her in a kennel all day and all night. So is there any way to teach her to stay home?

Please don't post if your going to post rude remarks!

Thanks!

Her stomach is a lot bigger than a month ago. Its somewhat hard..her stomach is hard..but big. Her nipples..well..they're longer than usual. Today..she was laying on my couch the whole day n didnt get up..i had to pick her up n bring her downstairs to eat. She pretty much slept most of the day. Today she lost her appetite..but she did drink a lot of water. Could she be pregnant? if so..how do i check if she is pregnant? She's 2yrs old, and she's a Dachshund mix
