I am looking for a toy fox terrier or dachshaud puppy as a gift for my 6 year old for christmas. I have had dogs all of my life and would love to give him the joy of owning his own pet.

I'm gonna give it to him alittle before christmas. I won't be having many visitors so we have alot of time to spend with a new puppy. Also if it's a dachshaud it should be standard, or short haired.

go to petfinder.com.....this is a site for rescue groups.....just enter your Zip code, and enter breed wanted, like Dachshund, and be AMAZED at how many great choices you have !!.....i recently adopted a Great Pyrenees mix from them, and my dog Sylvester is awesome !!.....check it out.....try it.....do a good deed.....adopt a Toy fox Terrier or Dachshund puppy today !!!.....good luck to you, in your search for a Toy Fox Terrier or Dachshund puppy as a new pet for your son !!!!.....most adoptions run betwen $ 50 to $ 200 maximum, for a wonderfull dog, who will be very happy to be your new pet !!!

I'm sure that you realise it's probably better to give him the puppy either a week or two before Christmas or just after ... actually on Christmas Day - though of course it would be wonderful just to see his face light up at what Santa had brought - might be just too much as you'll probably be too busy with other things (turkey, visitors, etc) to spend much time with the pup.

Hope some of these websites might help.

A list of fox terrier & dachshund clubs - one might have a breeding list & details of a breeder near you.

Toy Terriers:
Lists of puppies for sale ... though unfortunately, I couldn't seem to search by area - it might help though:

These breeders are in Dunlap, IL

Dachshund ... which sort? Minature, standard, long hair, short hair, wire hair?:

Breeders in central IL:

These ones are in IL & ship to Chicago - but not sure how happy I'd be about that if I were you - probably better to go & collect yourself then you can see the puppy & the conditions that it's been raised in:

You could also try this site to search for breeders near you:

Or what about a mixture - Dachshund/Pomeranian puppy - in Chicago:

It's all simply a matter of personal preference. I actually have short hair and guys just like it. And i prefer a guy with short hair over a guy with long hair because long tresses tends to make guys look also girly.

you may bathe (not "tub") a domestic dog of any age previous weaning supplied you're very careful and comfortable. Use very easy domestic dog shampoo, conveniently heat water, and assume to have a damp mess to freshen up afterwards from splashing and while the domestic dog shakes the water off. positioned on old clothing. verify to rinse all the shampoo off the domestic dog or it could make him/her itchy. Towel the domestic dog properly and the dry her or him thoroughly, utilising a hair dryer set on Low. shop your hand in the air stream to verify it would not get too warm for the domestic dog.
