I have two chihuahuas that have been spoiled all their life.... steak, chicken, ribs, pizza toppings, chicken jerky, beef jerky, etc.

Now they won't eat any canned dog food or dry food.... what can I feed them other than table scraps?????

We have a year and a half old Pittie mutt that pays attention to the fact that we HAVE food when we're eating, but she doesn't "beg" because she NEVER get scraps from the table. She gets scraps, but only a select few (mostly cheese) while I'm cooking - never from the table itself. Any other "people food" that she would get, goes into her Kong (i.e. peanut butter, pumpkin, cream cheese).

You could try to put your pups on a bland boiled beef or chicken and rice diet for a couple days - it won't hurt them to put them on a bland diet for a day or two - just proportion it accordingly to their dry food recommendations. If you don't know how much to give them, ask your vet. My thought process is that they will think that they are getting "people" food with the beef and rice diet.

Once they grow accustomed to the new diet, and look forward to it, try slowly transitioning them to they dry food (or canned if that absolutely does not work) by mixing it in while the beef and rice is still hot - start small, then add more and more slowly as you go along. Keep in mind - if you give them ANY table scraps while you're trying to get them back on track - they'll probably regress.

Also, in my opinion, it is important to establish a feeding schedule as well. Then their bodies will adjust to when they should be eating, and that's when they'll want and go for their food.

I hope this helps - it may be quite the challenge if they're as spoiled as they seem from your question! Good luck!

I have a very spoiled little girl too had a very hard time finding something that she would eat on a regular basis until I found the newer Alpo prime selects, filet mignon, roast chicken and pork, sirloin steak and ribeye canned foods. She loves them. I have no problem now feeding her but all spoiled babies are different as we all know.

Ha Ha!!! So im not the only one with this problem! Honestly, there isnt much else that you can feed them. Once dogs get introduced to table food, its hard to get them off of it. The only trick that has worked for me is to pour juices ontop if the dog food. For example, you can pour the juice from a can of tuna on top of the dog food and more than likely, your dogs will eat it. Also try the fat/juices from steak or bacon....its gross but dogs eat it. Good luck.

I keep dry food down at all times.
I also soak some dry food until soft and add a small amount of chicken and rice.
I sometimes will add a little gravy to the mix.....They love it.
They also get alpo snaps, pupcorn, and cheerios for snacks.

Well I give my dog dingo bones. I also give him canned food mixed in with his dry food to keep him eating it. You might try mixing the ppl food with some dog food and slowly get them back on track. Or not feed them for a day or so, so that they get hungry enough to eat dog food again.

i do agree that is they get hungry enogh, the dogs will eat dog food again. i have a puppy that i spoil to death, but i have her on a schedule and she gets a small snack with me for breakfast and dog food for lunch (you could try changing their dog food type...mine only eats bill jack which is much like human food as it is made from real meat and needs refrigerated or it will spoil) and gets some meat scrapes for dinner and some more dog food. if you stay with the routine your dogs will be spoiled but still get a nutrition found in dog food.

you already went and messed that one up. Hopefully the dogs don't develop stones in their stomachs and kidneys.

My dog sleeps when we eat dinner. NO SCRAPS.

Just put their food out and add a little rice to it. They will eat when they are hungry enough.

You created your own problem . . . start to mix dry food with beef broth, chicken broth, or cheese.
