When should they be used? What is the exception?

I found my dog about a year ago. After putting flyers up and not getting any responses for about 6 months, we decided to keep him. We think he may have ran away from a nearby kennel. This kennel does not treat their animals very well by the way.
Well the vet I have been taking him thought he was 2 years old. So this whole time I've been thinking he was 2. He acts like a young dog, very energetic. But then I took him to a new vet today and he thinks that my dog is at least nine years old!!! He said that he can tell from his teeth and his little gray patch near his mouth. Which do I believe? How can I tell?

My dog (maltese/poodle) is the greatest dog, but she has a problem when meeting other animals. She was in a house with a yorkie and a jack russel who would be "mean" to her so now she has a problem getting along with dogs. The yorkie would snap at her and attack her and the jack russel would jump on top of her so now when she sees other dogs she just barks uncontrollably! People think she is being mean, but she is just scared so she just keeps barking. How do I get her to get along with other dogs? I had her around one would was very calm and she just kept barking for like 10 minutes straight and I just kept telling her to calm down and I tried to go down to her level and hold her, but nothing worked. I want to eventually get another dog and I know she will eventually warm up to them, but any ideas?

please sign this petition to stop rotweillers being put on the dangerous dog list. Please dont allow a few dogs to tar the name of a whole breed.. similer to genecide?
If this bill gets passed then it will leave the gateway open for bull terriers, german shepherds and all the other 'dangerous dogs' , please sign and save some lives, i know this is a question & answer site so my question is, please sign the petition, if not why not?

My little boy really wants a puppy. I don't know what kind to get. Don't want one too big, but it will be strictly outdoors (we have a heated dog house) so can't be a nasty little poodle or something either. :) We have two cats so need something that's not going to go after them. We are gone during the day and only want one dog. Don't want a barker! Anyone have any good suggestions?

My pups have been house trained for about five months... they have a doggy door that they use very well... My baby girl is 6 months old on 9-28-06 and my mom came to visit with her 3 year old rat terrier male dog. Well when they left for the weekend, i found my baby Rylee peeing on the blanket that the male had slept on. However, Rylee doesn't seem to do that with Bailey (my boy dog)... So I thought it might have just been a slip up. Well last night, I caught her peeing on the new bed I brought home for them... Do I just need to do more house training when I thought she already was or is there something else going on?! Thanks guys

Last february i went to a shelter and looked around for a dog and i found this little chihuahua. I named her daisy and she was scared at first which i knew was normal but ever since then she doesnt want to be held by or touched by anyone but me. The shelter said that she was 4 or 5 years old and that they found her walking on the streets and that she might have been mistreated. I live with my parents and both of them thought that if they spent time with her then maybe she would be better but she always hides and barks at them. I'm leaving for college in the fall and my mom said that i'm probably gonna have to get rid of her since she doesn't like anyone. I would feel really bad if i had to give her away after all she has been through. Please let me know if there is anything i can do to change this behavior

There are about ten dogs in my neighborhood, and they are all barking at and totally disrespecting my very well behaved pet--AND I DON'T LIKE IT AT ALL !!

IT'S ALL GROSSLY UNFAIR !!

My pet's name is Bob, and he is a still-growing two-ton T-Rex. He is SO loveable and cute, you cannot believe !!! And he stays in my yard and plays with his oversized beachball and the city bus he dragged home the ONE DAY he got out of the yard.

OK, I"m sorry! I forgot that Bob ate a few cats the first week I had him, and for some reason the Johnsons next door abandoned their home in the middle of the night and haven't been heard from since--but what the hey!! If they want to be speciests and show their bigotry against dinosaurs, then that's their loss and none of mine.

Bob even sleeps most of the time, OK? Give him 100 pounds of cow to munch on and within an hour, he's dozing off.

So, how can I get the neighborhood to adjust to Bob, huh? How can I get the dogs to shut up, OK?

HOW!!!

My 6 mo Scottie puppy was neutred on Friday. I had adopted him and with the cost of the adoption his neuter was included. I had to take him to a Vet that the adoption agency used.
Friday night one of his stiches popped. I called the vet and was told it should be fine (he has 2 stiches left).
Last night I caught the pup licking at it. I told him to stop immediatly which he did, but apon a closer look, the left side of the where the incision was made is red and a little hard and the area around his sack is red. It is not hot to the touch.
He is acting fine, eating as usual, etc.
I don't feel comfortable taking him back to the vet that performed the procedure, the place was 45 mins away, a whole in the wall & I think the a.c. was broken.
What should I do until I can get him into his usual vet?
Please help I am very worried.

Our black lab puppy is almost 5 months old... I know she's teething, she'll chew on anything. Last night we noticed something on the floor under her while she was chewing on a raw hide, it was a tooth! Is that normal? Do puppies loose teeth when they're teething?

I recently bought a Boggle hybrid dog from Petland. It is 1/2 Beagle, 1/2 Boston Terrier. I love it to death and want to get it a playmate. I have been playing with the pure bread Boston's and have considered buying one. My friends and co-workers say that the Boston Terriers are way too hyper, but are overall good dogs. Suggestions??? Coments??? Thanx!!!

My hubby just took our 8 wk old puppy to the vet for a checkup and found out he has roundworms. They gave us a creamy liquid to give him 4x - every 10 days. Is it possible for us to catch worms from him? He lives inside with us in our apartment, and sleeps with us every night. He usually goes potty on puppy pads inside but sometimes goes outside...we can't always make it outside because we are on the 3rd floor of an apartment. I feel sick to my stomach thinking about it. Did I do something wrong to allow him to have worms? Or did he have them from the start or what? I feel so bad.... Cuz the vet said that the next poop will have tons of worms and not to freak out...but how could I NOT freak out when I see a buttload (literally) of spaghetti coming out of my poor lil pup??
Plz help!!

She's super tiny, only weighing 2.2 lbs. The rock was about the size of a quarter. I can't imagine how she'd even get it down. The thing is, that I thought I saw a rock where she was sniffing around. I grabbed her right away to take it out of her mouth, but it wasn't there, or anywhere on the ground. Perhaps I imagined the whole damn thing. It was dark.

Anyway, She's still eating, drinking--and everthing that goes with it. Should I worry? My veterinarian office is closed on Mondays, and I have her on a plan there, so I'd hate to take her to ER care if not absolutely necessary. Any advice?
