My pups have been house trained for about five months... they have a doggy door that they use very well... My baby girl is 6 months old on 9-28-06 and my mom came to visit with her 3 year old rat terrier male dog. Well when they left for the weekend, i found my baby Rylee peeing on the blanket that the male had slept on. However, Rylee doesn't seem to do that with Bailey (my boy dog)... So I thought it might have just been a slip up. Well last night, I caught her peeing on the new bed I brought home for them... Do I just need to do more house training when I thought she already was or is there something else going on?! Thanks guys

She is spayed, both my pups were adopted, and therefore were fixed before leaving the shelters

When you brought another dg into the home you upset the blaance of things. Sounds like she is marking territory. SHe is just reinforcing that this is her home and not the other male dogs.
It may continue for a few days. If you catche her in the act displine her and let her know it is not going to be tolerated by you and that she is going to be punsihed for it.
Once things settle down again and she knows the other dog is gone for good things should be ok again.
Since she lives with a male dog she is most likely the top dog in the house. Many times the female is really the dominant dog in the house.
You also brought in a new item and she is letting everyone know it is HERS.
Hopefuly in a few days things will settle down and she will go back to normal. Until then correct her if you catch her and get some odor neutrelizer for the spots she has peed on.
Good luck.

Maybe she learnt a bad habit from the guest dog. It might not be marking her territory. Its a monkey see, monkey do business because she is only 6 months old. Wash the blanket, remove his scent and see how it goes. Meanwhile, continue with house training. Do not allow the rat terrier or any other dogs to visit until she is older so that she doesn't pick up bad habits.

Yes, females will mark. My neighbor's dog marked with both urine and stool and would actually stand with her hind feet on the fence to mark higher up when I took my dogs out into my yard.

I would actually consider not allowing them to use the doggy door anymore. Having complete access to the outdoors greatly expands Rylee's constant territory. This gives her a stronger urge to mark, as she can't be everywhere at once but her scent can be.

Yes you need to do more training with them and tell No, if you see them going toward the blanket. When they get close to the blanket, that's when you take control and tell them they need to go outside. Just make that you have a fenced in yard so they don't get away and get run over by a car or something.

I have never heard a female marking their territory. Has she been fixed yet ? If not she might be starting to go into heat and that is the way she is letting male dogs know that its time to mate her pee has hormones in it that the male dogs can smell .

She might just be doing it out of spite to that you brought another dog into the house and she does not like that and she is letting you know.
Also she is laying claim that she is a dominate female and that is her way of letting the male dogs know

Yes, a female will sometimes mark. It is usually a non-spayed female tho and usually when she is in heat. Not sure what is going on with her. You might take her to the vet to rule out a medical problem.

I own two female labs, one if fixed and the other one isn't.

Often the unfixed female will go and pee right where the other female did. She will usually do this when she is getting ready to go into heat.

It's possible she's marking. Is she spayed? If not, spay her.
