Hi. I just got a meduim-sized poodle last week. He is very mature for being one and a half years old, he was already house trained and he just got nuetered. However, he can be very ignorant and lazy when I tell him to come and to sit. Like when i have a treat and tell him to sit he acts like he doesnt know what i am talkiing about then i gently push on his hind until he reluctantly sits.. I thank you in advance for your advice....

Thank you to everyone who offered kind words and their help. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.
Last Friday he passed away, i was at work when my family called me. He passed away at his favorite spot at home, he felt in deep sleep when he passed away. I'm sad that Max leaved us and went to doggie haven, but also glad that naturally and peacefully passed away, Thank god we didn't put him to sleep and make the wrong choice. We love you MAX, We will miss you the days when you in heaven.

We just tragically lost our dog last week. She was our first dog and our whole family is devastated by her loss. The only thing that has helped fill the emptiness in our hearts and home is the thought of getting a puppy. We are being given all kinds of advice - all of it different - of course. We loved her breeed so much, we want the same breed. However, we also thought that because she was female , we should get a male -of a different colour -so that there is no chance fo comparison. Would love to hear how others have coped - how soon you got another dog, and if it was important for it to be different?

My puppy is almost 4 months old. So far hasn't chewed any furniture, mostly just me. So to help with his teething, I bought him some Nylabone. It was a variety pack. One durable, one flexible and one edible. He likes them all, but I just wanted to make sure that the edible bones are ok. I know my vet said some bones aren't good for dogs of any age and I was especially concerned because of the age.

Second, I bought a scrapbook at Petsmart for the first year. It has one area where you are supposed to stamp each paw. What would be the best way to do this? I think it would be cute, but I am a little concerned with him licking the ink off of his feet.

Finally, when we go outside, he tries to eat everything. Leaves, hair, grass, dandilions, etc. He even tries eating mulch and rocks. I am pretty concerned with the rocks. What can I do to stop him, nothing seems to help.

I really appreciate all your answers!

I have a 9 yr old male, nuetered Chihuahua. We moved into a new home 7 weeks ago. The home has never been lived in, so there was never another animal in the house Last week he started peeing on my drapes. I removed them and he found another set of drapes upstairs and peed on them. Once those were removed, he peed on the side of our comforter! He had never peed in our old home and just last week started in this home. He is not sick, I have had a urine test done which checked out fine. Is it out of stress? Or is he just mad/marking territory? I don't know what to do.....Any advice, suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

He had lethargy, vomiting, diarrhea, and stopped eating. My vet thinks my 7 mo. old maltese/poodle puppy may have Parvo. He started these symptoms on Friday and has been at the vet since Saturday on an IV. I went to see him this morning and he looks like he is getting worse. Has anyone had any experience with this? What is the likelihood that he can survive? I'm just heartbroken and don't know what else to do.

We are definately okay with a rescue dog! We have it narrowed down to the following breeds that will work well for our family:

1. Bichon Frise (or bichon mix)

2. Maltese

3. Toy Poodle (poodle mix)
