if your 10 week old puppy is constipated instead of trying to find cures, alter the diet so that it isn't getting constipated in the first place. You can add some vegetable oil to it's diet. If you are feeding kibble, are you leaving it down all day so that the dog can nibble and pick at it, or are you removing it so the pup has to gulp down a great lot of dry kibble? This will cause constipation. You also need to ensure that it is drinking enough. It would help me to give you a better answer if I knew what the feeding routine was and what it is being fed.

Canned pumpkin is really good for dogs...just make sure it is plain pumpkin and NOT pie filling (which would upset your dogs stomach).

Does it treat constipation, well, that really depends on the level of constipation. If it is mild, the fiber in the pumpkin will help move things along. If it is really severe, your probably looking at having to get a laxative or an enema from the vet.

So, my suggestion is that if the consipation has only been evident for a couple of days, try the pumpkin. If your talking more like a week plus, it's probably time to take your dog to the vet.

As an aside...you can feed pumpkin to hungry dogs as a treat as it is very low in calories (won't make them fat) and high in essential vitamins and minerals.

Good luck

Sure- they can stay together. Thank goodness you are at least being responsible and keeping them instead of dumping them at the shelter. Call the shelter and your vet and get the number of a low cost/free spay and neuter service in your area. In a few months when the bit** come into heat the males won't care if they are their sisters or not and you'll have even more puppies on your hands.

I have never heard of pumkin for that use, but I do know that you can give pepto for a puppy about 1/4 of the dose you would take.

I dont know about that but, what about prune juice in its water? I used to give it to my daughter when she was little. Also, I have a shih tzu and when he was little I had to bathe him alot and often. If he went longer than 3-4 days the poo would build up in the hair at his bum and hten he couldnt relieve hisself. Just thought I would add that incase yours could be doing the same and you hadnt thought that was the problem.

Yes!! only unsweetened though. it works both ways. if your puppy is constipated, it will loosen it up, but if its havind diarrhea, it will help firm it up too! but it wont constipate it more. So, go ahead and try it out.

have you had the puppy to the Vet yet? Could it be a blockage from something ingested?
