Both German Shepherds and Akitas are powerful and strong dogs. German Shepherds tend to be more obedient, while Akitas are more stubborn. Both breeds can become very protective of their owners, don't tolerate strangers well, and can get aggressive with other animals.
It really depends on the individual dog, though. How's her health? I though my German Shepherd was the sweetest and calmest dog on earth, but when she got over her URI, she turned into a hyper thing! If she is in good health, and is friendly but not frightened, and does well with other dogs and strangers, then she sounds like a wonderful dog. If you are worried about controlling her, get a head halter. It looks like a horse halter, and goes around the dog's head, and stops them from pulling at the leash. Be sure to read the directions that comes with it! You can cause some damage to the dog if you use the head halter incorrectly. Another option might be to purchase a pinch or choke collar. Both can be dangerous if used incorrectly, so make sure you read up on how to use them.
Hope this helps!

Umm the Akita mix and the German Sheapherd hmmmm both parts are alarming if you have small children, other animals, or lots of visitors that are frail then I wouldnt do it, but training would be a must. All dogs are different but breed has alot to do with temperment!!! Do your research and ask questions.

This mix will require A LOT of excercise. It will also be a very loyal and loving dog, protective of it's family. You shouldn't leave it alone outside because of this. Other than that, those are both awesome breeds.
Be sure to take it to obediance training so it learns that you are master and won't drag you from it's leash!

Well I have a half German Shephard myself and I have had no problems. He is the calmest dog I have ever had. Altough, I should warn you that the German Shephard breed, acording to some people, can be very dangerous.
As far as controlling it, I dont think you will have a problem.

cool dog - akita tends to be a one person dog -good training with the other mix should make it a more universal pet.

I have....... mine was very protective, great with children, but wouldn't hesitate to chew the plumbers arm off. Also, the loose floating dog hair was everywhere.
