I have a almost 3 yr old BT. He is NOT HYPER! If you play with them enough and give them room to run around and burn energy, they are calmer. Don't get me wrong, he has his moments, but it's not constent. I have heard the same things that you were told, but usually people are caging/crating them. I just my BT a playmate, a puppy pit, and they LOVE each other. They play all day long in the yard, and that helps burn off energy. IM if you need any other info, I have lots of links and other info. GOOD LUCK!!!

I have had 6 Boston's and they arent hyper. They are the best dog you can have, they dont call them "gentleman" for nothing. Some do have a little more energy than others, I had a tiny girl that could jump close to five feet from a standing position. But, compared to Jack Russels, I dont consider them to be hyper. So, good luck and find you a good breeder!

You need to do a ton more research than simply asking on a forum. Buy a book, talk with responsible breeders, and maybe visit a botson rescue if there is one near you. Also research puppy mills and the cruelty of petland before you support them again. Bostons have a TON of health problems and if you don't get them from an ethical place then you're more than likely going to have a lot of fun at the vets.

Bostons are well mannered and even tempered, excellent pets for older children and adults. They do well in most environments provided they receive a moderate amount of exercise. Their coat is short and is eay to keep neat and naturally odor free. They are smart and train easily. They get along with most everyone and lives anywhere.

Beagles are generally higher energy than Bosties, so I am sure that if you get a well bred one, it won't be any more hyper than the one you have..Bosties are easy to train, and easy to live with...
The key to getting the right one, is to meet its parents. If they are just like the dog you would want, then you will be likely to get the pup of your dreams..

They are SUPER hyper! One of my relatives/friends has one and he has 2 take them 4 a walk EVERY DAY, play fetch w/ them...etc...
He lives in Florida and therefore the dog escapes and actually goes SWIMMING with the dolphins. It is CONSTANTLY gettin into trouble.
But they are cute! :)
