She's super tiny, only weighing 2.2 lbs. The rock was about the size of a quarter. I can't imagine how she'd even get it down. The thing is, that I thought I saw a rock where she was sniffing around. I grabbed her right away to take it out of her mouth, but it wasn't there, or anywhere on the ground. Perhaps I imagined the whole damn thing. It was dark.

Anyway, She's still eating, drinking--and everthing that goes with it. Should I worry? My veterinarian office is closed on Mondays, and I have her on a plan there, so I'd hate to take her to ER care if not absolutely necessary. Any advice?

I wouldn't worry about it to much. She should pass it.
My old german sheperd came to us with a "rock habit" he loved getting big rocks carrying them around in his mouth and chewing on them. We always thought he had a belly full of rocks. Anyway besides his teeth getting worn down he lived to be 12 not bad for a very large dog!
If it was a one time thing just wait for it to pass...if it's going to be come habit stop it now take them away and give her something else apprioate to chew on.

My Dog Ate Rocks

Spray the yard with Tabasco? You could try using a muzzle to train her not to eat the rocks. Let her out and only put the muzzle on right after she picks up the first rock. Make her wear it the rest of the time she's out for that outing, and remove it when she comes in. If she doesn't like the muzzle, she will quickly (a couple days) learn to leave the rocks alone. Make sure you watch her through the window so she doesn't know you can see her, or she'll learn to pick up rocks when no one's looking. Rocks will also dull and break her teeth. If you plant a couple creeping phlox, they will grow to cover the gravel, but that will take a couple years.

Hi, I understand that you are looking for some advice or resources to help fully train your dog or fix behavior problems. If a professional dog trainer is not an option at this time, or if you want to trt training your dog on your own (a great way to bond), I'd suggest you https://tinyurl.im/KuVIf

A friend recommened it to me a few years ago, and I was amazed how quickly it worked, which is why I recommend it to others. The dog training academy also has as an excellent home training course.

As long as she's eating, drinking, not vomiting, and going to the bathroom regularly, try to wait and see if it will pass through... you said that it was small, and she might not even have eaten it. You should see the things that dogs will eat, a rock is NOTHING, compared to some things that I've heard of.
Take her to the vet if anything abnormal happens, but other than that, I would let it be, and try to see if it passes.

If your dog is doing well, don't worry it might have not swallowed the rock. If your puppy experience stomach distension, you should be alert to get an opinion from your vet.

saw PART of an episode of Cesar Milan with a dog that ate rocks. It was an axiety. obedience training would DEF help, they must know u are the boss, before they'll take your correction. calm & assertive only, never yelling and hitting. ask on Cesar's website!

Just wait it is like a child you have to watch them like a hawk. One of my ate so much blanket I thought she was going to have to have surgery. Just keep a eye on her stool it should not be a problem if there were no sharp edges. Feed her some bread then oil (to make her go). If really worried call your veterinarian. Please let me know what happens. God bless you both and the Southern people.

if she's still going to the bathroom (#1 & #2) then dont worry too much about it right now. if either stops, or she looks like she's straining, then take her to the ER. tomorrow, call your vet and let her know what happened and see what she recomends. she'll probably tell you to wait and see if she passes it. puppies eat rocks. mine eats mulch too. just think of it like a kid eating a lego.
