Two weeks ago I took my dog to the vet for her anal glands. This didn't give her much relief, I took her again two days ago and the vet said her glands were full again and the pain is probably generating from her lower back as she is overweight. Now she is hiding under the bed and whines and sometimes barks out in pain. She bends around when walking and keeps her tail bent to one side. She does not want to be touched anywhere around her hind quarters. I would like to know if anyone has had a similar problem and what it might be. I am looking for a different vet in our area at this time as the vet we are using didn't seem concerned about my dog's pain. Sadie is like my child and it hurts and scares me to see her in such discomfort. Any information and cure on what could be causing her pain would be greatly appreciated.

We have a male, neutered, miniature dachshund. He is adorable with a fantastic disposition. However, he is still peeing in the house and he is almost a year old. We have never had problems like this in the past with dogs.

Any advice ...is this a common thing with dachshunds?

I have a 5 month old pup that's going to get neutered tomorrow morning. The vet told me not to feed him after 10pm. Does this include water? I'm not sure because for humans when they have to undergo surgery and be on anesthetic they can't have food or water the night before. I know he'll feel nauseated if he were to eat after 10pm, but I just wanted to make sure if it was just food or if it's food and water. Thanks!

My boyfriend and I are looking at possibly getting a puggle. He's always loved pugs, but I don't like their snout (they snort too much when breathing and they have respiratory issues). I've always liked beagles, but he doesn't like them because they're hard to train. We figure a puggle is good because it is a mixed breed, it shouldn't have the respiratory problems of a pug and hopefully will be easier to train than a beagle. Any insights from people who own or are familiar with the new breed?

My friend, Alexis, lives across the street at the second house from me... Well... she doesn't really /live/ there, but she's atying there for a while. It's either her aunt's or grandma's house...
Anyway, they have 3 dogs over there. A chow mix, a husky and chow mix, and a pure black lab... Her grandma said they want to get rid of it b/c it's so hyper. That's because they never walk it or pay any attention to it... or the other 2... They make Alexis go out a feed /their/ dogs everyday, and sometimes they forget to feed them all day. And when they do, they only feed them once a day and it isn't enough and the black lab gobbles it up in a minute.... She's skinny and you can see her ribs... So, I bothered and bothered Alexis to ask her aunt if we could go and walk them. Finally, she gave in and I actually asked her aunt, myself, and she said we could... So, for the past few days, Alexis and I have been walking the 3 dogs and my own dog a lot.
