My friend, Alexis, lives across the street at the second house from me... Well... she doesn't really /live/ there, but she's atying there for a while. It's either her aunt's or grandma's house...
Anyway, they have 3 dogs over there. A chow mix, a husky and chow mix, and a pure black lab... Her grandma said they want to get rid of it b/c it's so hyper. That's because they never walk it or pay any attention to it... or the other 2... They make Alexis go out a feed /their/ dogs everyday, and sometimes they forget to feed them all day. And when they do, they only feed them once a day and it isn't enough and the black lab gobbles it up in a minute.... She's skinny and you can see her ribs... So, I bothered and bothered Alexis to ask her aunt if we could go and walk them. Finally, she gave in and I actually asked her aunt, myself, and she said we could... So, for the past few days, Alexis and I have been walking the 3 dogs and my own dog a lot.

I've actually gotten sunburned from walking so much. But it was REALLY fun to walk the dogs. And the black lab was so good on the leash. After a couplre of minutes, she'd stop trying to pull and just walk right beside you with slack on the leash. I want to keep the black lab in a way. They keep her in a kennel about 4x6 feet. I have a kennel that's 10x10 ft. I often see her pacing in her kennel b/c she has nothing to do. She's maybe 1-2 years old, but she's long and lanky. =P And she's sorta puppy-like. I could probably easily talk my mom into keeping her.

The thing is, is that she most likely has heartworms. They barely feed the dogs, so I highly doubt they get their shots. And my first dog I ever had lived to be 2 1/2 and died this past March 29th from heartworm treatment. I don't want to go throught that again, but I want to keep her to give her a better life. I'm a huge Cesar Millan fan and I've been learning about dogs for 3 years. So, what should I do? Or what do you think they can do to find her a good home?

Oh, I'm homeschooled, so I'm constantly at home. =P I have all the time in the world. =P I just don't want to have to treat her for heartworms. And I don't want to keep her for the couple years she has left b/c I'd know that she'd die soon and I'd be really attatched to her... =( I cried for weeks when Strider died. He was my best friend in the world ans soooo smart... He was a chow/pit mix. So, I dunno... =/

Heheh, my mom's very easy-going. I have actually already talked to her about keeping the lab, and she seemed content...

Well, I've already got a dog that I'm caring for. He's a husky/chow/pit mix but looks exactly like a husky. I take him for walks everyday. Although, I have to stop for today and tomorrow so mu sunburn can heal, but I still play with Steele inside to let him release his energy. =P
Here's a video of him. XD

Please, i'm begging you, take the dog. You are very compassionate about this dog and you sound like you'd take very good care of her. At this point, she needs you. I really hope you take her in. Dogs are so loving, they bring so much love into your life.

First make sure you have enough money to take it to the vet and get it all the supplies it needs. Since the dog may be ill, you might need several hundred dollars for vet care and shots and it will probably need to be fixed. Also are you ready to take on the responsiblilty for the life span of this dog? Depending on its age, it might live for 10 more years. What will you do with it when you go to college? It's wonderful that you have been walking it and loving it. Are you willing to do it several times a day for years? It was mentioned that the dog is energetic. You need to decide if you are going to keep it outside or inside and make sure your parents agree. If you are ready for all of this, then think about it for a few days and then decide. Make the decision that is best for the dog. If you think your interest might wane in a few months, don't get it. If you do, make sure you have enough time for it. If you feel that you can't take the dog, find a reputable no kill dog rescue in the area that specialzes in labs and take it there. It will be safe and cared for and will be adopted by someone that will take good care of it.

ok the first thing you need to do is quizz your self on being responsible. to see if you would take care of the dog then you need to see is you have money to pay for all hes needs i mean your mom might pay for them but hello dont let your mom pay for everything then you need to see if your mom would let you have the dog. show your mom how you take care of him but make sure that your mom dosent know that that you are trying to convice her and after you do all those things then im sure youll get the black lab

if you think that you are able to take care and feed the dog then you should take it but you are young and will be going back to school soon and you will still be responsible for it ,so that would be up to you doll dont put it on your parents if you cant handle it xoxoxox
