When dogs eat their own poop it is called Coprophagia. There are dietary supplements to give that will stop that behavior. As for the dog and the cat's litter box...
From what I understand the stuff is pretty tasty if you're a dog. Cat food is much richer, higher in fat and protein than dog food. So much so that it comes out the back end almost like it went in the front end which is why dogs like it. I heard a vet quoted as saying "a litterbox to a dog is what a plate of fresh brownies is to a chocolate lover".
Though the behavior should be discouraged, an occasional snack from the box won't hurt him unless of course the cat has some sort of parasite which the dog could then get. It is best to put the litterbox where the dog can't get to it.

This I know for a fact, my Husky used to steel my cats poop out of the litter box, I took her to the vet and he said it's because cats do not digest all their food, so, when a dog happens to get the scent, all they smell is the food. The more flavors in kitty food is more attraction for your dog. I know it's gross, but the only way to stop this is to put the litter box in a closed in room and add a small cat door. Make sure all the animals are up to date on shots, this way they don't transfer them to each other when stuff like this does happen, good luck........

I had a dog that loved eating the poop out of the litter box. He got worms and we had to treat him and the cat. Boy was that nasty. It was only a certain dog that did it. My others didn't.

Kitty Rocha! The delicacy of all dogs. Your canine is in easy words one in a line of one million dogs which could gladly snack out of your kitty container. it really is repulsive, and in no way reliable for them tho. You did not say what length canine, yet when attainable, placed up a toddler gate to the room housing the clutter container. go away a smal section on the bottom so the kitty can move slowly lower than, despite the indisputable fact that the canine can't get by ability of. it incredibly is the premier. think ofyou've got to make certain the canine can't get to the clutter, no count number the way you accomplish it despite the indisputable fact that. by ability of how, cat nutrients isn't reliable on your canine, so make certain kitty eats the position the canine can't attain the nutrients.
