I have a 5 month old pup that's going to get neutered tomorrow morning. The vet told me not to feed him after 10pm. Does this include water? I'm not sure because for humans when they have to undergo surgery and be on anesthetic they can't have food or water the night before. I know he'll feel nauseated if he were to eat after 10pm, but I just wanted to make sure if it was just food or if it's food and water. Thanks!

Let him have water tonight if he is thirsty, remove it when he is done drinking, then nothing till after surgery.

WOW!! 5 months is kinda young. They havent fully developed yet. If you going to go through with it though, there is no reason to and not to give him water. Take him for a long walk the morning of and you should be fine.

When I had my dogs spayed/neutered, vet told me water was ok, but no food. All of them had water, and none of them had any problems.

My dog was recently neutered and I was told it was OK to give him water - just not anything to eat.

Pick up his water bowl, too. Unless he has a health problem or is already dehydrated, he should be fine.

Just to be safe I wouldn't give him any water. He'll be fine.
