My nextdoor neighbour has a mastiff- a big dog.I heard the dog grumble and sound like it was talking but I thought it was me. Then my aunt remarked that the dog talked. My brother recognized that the dog not only talks but it uses sentences. The voice is male and deep- a bass or baritone. I do not understand what it says but it is not a broken record. After mumbling and grumbling for a while, he will bark to get attention then continue talking. Can anyone identify any breed of dog that truly talks even if speech is unintelligible or not fully understood?I am reminded of a deaf person or someone with a speech impediment who tries to or talks. At times I think it sounds like a tape recorder with weak batteries too.

I have a cocker spaniel that is potty trained and has access to a doggie door at all times. Recently he has been peeing in the house and sometimes even pooping. He waits until I leave or am in the next room. I don't know what to do. He is fixed and has been for years. I know he knows how to use the doggie door and will go outside to use the bathroom when he feels like it, but he will go in the house daily to every other day. He has gone periods without any accidents or problems in the past. Please help!! I am so frustrated and my fiance feels he does it on purpose to be a brat. My fiance is upset and wants to punish him, but I don't think that is the answer. It just makes him do it more. HELP!!!!

I know dogs throughout their life will nap and lounge around, but I am wondering how long I will get my quiet time (haha)... my pups our 4 and 5 months old and they nap quite a bit (more if we have a rambunctious day)... I would say they nap in the morning, afternoon, and evening for 1-2 hours. Is this a lot, or not enough and until how old will they do this? Thank you!!

My 7 month old Golden Retriever does. She just goes wild and skitters all over the floors (not carpeted) and bounces up, on, and off both couches. Just a sudden burst of energy then it's over.

I have a dog and she is an Yorkie. She is not a teacup nor she's not a toy size. She's in between. She is going to be pregnet on August and then she will be getting babies in November. So should I let her do it at home or the vet ? Well if we do it at home please tell me why I should... Also will my dog do everything her self when she gets her babies? Does she really need our help?

Right now, temperatures are rising and it is extremely hot, please make sure your dog has enough water and shade.

What Climbing Temperatures Mean for Dogs
The “dog days” of summer pose a particularly dangerous threat to “backyard” dogs: heatstroke. Many people know about the danger of leaving dogs inside cars during the warm summer months, when temperatures can climb to well above 100°F in just a matter of minutes.

But for backyard dogs chained outside and deprived of water, shade, and ventilation, the threat of death has nothing to do with cars—even though they might be tethered to an old jalopy. Baking in the summer sun in a barren yard—day after day, week after week—takes its toll and kills many of these animals.
Beating the Heat
Beating the summer’s oppressive heat is extra tough for dogs, because they can only cool themselves by panting and by sweating through their paw pads. Heatstroke can occur quickly and can result in brain damage or a gruesome death that’s often preceded by panic and seizures.

If you know of a backyard dog in your community, why not do what you can to make his or her life a little better? The following are some simple tips for helping backyard dogs in warm weather:

Let the owners of these forgotten animals know that a dog’s needs for water and shade are especially urgent during the summer months.
Ask them to give their dogs fresh water twice a day, or offer to do so for them.
Urge them to let their dogs inside during heat waves, much like some owners do during spells of bitter-cold weather during the winter.
If your dog isn’t allowed to be a part of your family, why not change that, starting today, by keeping him or her inside with the rest of your loved ones, at least while the weather is dangerous?
Signs of Overheating and How to Respond
Watch all dogs for symptoms of heatstroke, such as restlessness, excessive thirst, heavy panting, lethargy, lack of appetite, dark tongue, rapid heartbeat, fever, vomiting, and lack of coordination. If a dog shows any of these symptoms, get him or her into the shade immediately and call animal control or the police (if the dog is not your companion) or your veterinarian (if the dog is your companion). Lower the animal’s body temperature gradually by providing water to drink; applying a cold towel or ice pack to the dog’s head, neck, and chest; or immersing the dog in lukewarm (not cold) water.

There are countless other ways that you can improve the life of an “outside” dog—these dogs truly need every friend that they can get.

My chihuaha is pregnant from our poodle.( Don't ask.) She's due next week and her belly keeps growing and growing. We're scared she'll die during delivery or maybe even her babies could die. Anyone gone through this before? Any advice?
