It's more likely to be something in the chewy tablet than the active ingredient. The amount of ivermectin is measured in micrograms. Without more information on the epidemiology (i.e, how many dogs, how close together in time and distance, concurrent history, etc.) it wouldn't be possible to make a more detailed hypothesis.

ahh you say why so many dogs getting sick / has it become a epidemic ? first i have heard about it .. where did you hear about other dogs getting sick from Heartquard Plus ?

I do know that if the owner has waited to long to give his dear best freind his medicine when needed ..... the medicine will not work on a already sick dog ... advance stages of heartworms shortn your dogs life span dramatically ... get sicker before ever gets better. Seek a Veterinarian NOW... their may be hope yet

It's to strong for their systoms,get some other type of Heart Guard.Ask your Vet.!!!!

maybe it was something like a chemical that is bad for them.
