I strongly suggest that you take her to the vet about a week before she is due (or *now*) and have her X-rayed, at least. You can check the size of the puppies against the size of her pelvic opening and get a good idea if she will have problems or not. If the puppies look too large, the vet can set up a C-section at that time. It is quite possible, with the father being the larger dog, that she will have difficulties. If you do not, you do run the risk of losing her during birth, or losing the puppies on the way to the vet.
Also, have the vet on high alert if you *do* attempt a home-birth. You may be racing in in the middle of the night...
Good luck to you, and I truly hope everything goes smoothly for you and your Chi!

i bred my chihuahua last year first time but it was with another chihuahua well one answer said they can only have about 3 pups no way mine had 6 pups plus 3 that didnt develop so total 9 if the three had lived . she delivered no problem but was in a lot of pain ,i wound up having to hand feed my 6 pups till they were able to eat on their own cause the drained mom of all her calcium / electrolytes cost me 450 to get her back to health. so pls take her to vet and see what advise they tell you.its a lot of work and patience especially if mom starts to have problems at delivery have vets phone number real hand in case of emergency GOOD LUCK ALSO IF THE POODLE IS BIGGER THEN HER THE PUPS JUST MIGHT BE BIG ALSO AND HARD FOR MOM TO PASS C section will have to be done. IM NOT TRYING TO SCARE YOU BUT ITS PART OF LIFE SO IF YOU REALLY LOVE YOUR CHI CONTACT VET GET XRAYS B4 SHE HAS THEN IT WILL TELL YOU ROUGHLY HOW MANY TO EXPECT

Consider going through C-Section. It may be a lot of money. But you can save this Chihuahua's life. And they can only have to abou 3 puppies at most. So if it looks like it's more than 3, bring her to the vet. And make sure you are feeding her a lot of nutrients but enough to make a meal. Always have water for her. The puppies need to have fluids in their body.

Your pet may need a c-section, her babies might be too big to deliver any other way. The vet can give her an exam that will tell you if she needs it or not , they can tell you if her size is normal or not. Good luck!

I have actually seen half & half chi's and poodles. Depending on the type of poodle, I would think she would be ok, but you may want to take her to a vet!!

Have you considered talking to a vet? If she has problems with labor or delivery, she's going to need veterinary attention.

I think death is unlikely. How many small women married to big men die giving birth?
