Dogs - June 2006

I have father and daughter and I was told that I could breed them. I wasn't sure, becauise I heard that the pups could come out deformed. So what is the differemce from mating mother and son, over father and daughter. It just doesnt' make sense to me. The mother and father are from different litters, so not related. Just father and daughter. Or should I just consider gettin a different male to breed with. The mother I had fixed, and therefore can not breed her again. The little female I have is only five months, and I know I have to wait. She is a mini dachshund, red dapple with one blue eye. The father is a black and tan silver dapple. They are good looking dogs. But I would like an answer, if some one can help me. thanks in advance for any answers.

I am thinking about buying a puppy and need lots of advice. I have a breed picked out. What should I look for in the puppy in regards to personality and intelligence? I was told to hold the puppy in my hands on its back and if it stays calm it will be a mellow dog. Do you know any other traits or tests I can use to do the best job picking out my new pal. Thanks. I am getting a Chihuahua, if it is a girl her name will be Emily and if it is a boy his name will be Thomas.

How can I get my 2 dogs a dog license? Animal control came to my house today and said that I needed a dog license. They are coming back next week to check if I have the license. How do I get one for my dogs? I know nothing about this.

I just got a new chihahua puppy, she is a girl. When she lays down, i stare at her, her ears go back, and she starts changing the subject. When shes about to sleep, when shes looking my way, i stare at her, her ears go back, and she turns the other way so i cant see her face.
When shes running around the house, i stare at her, she gets bulgy eyes, backs away, and starts barking.

She hates to be stared at? All my other dogs, dont care.

Why does she do this? Its cute, but just like to know.

dog is nearly 6 months, huge yard, cat to harass, lots of toys so she's not bored. I don't want to smack her. she has always been timid and I don't want her afraid of me. she enjoys silly jumping around and I think that's part of it.

Every time my pomeranian, Destiny, needs to be brushed (getting a knot out behind her ears, getting old fur out from her new) she begins to shake and is just plain frightened when she sees the brush or comb... I tried everything from giving her a treat at the end or pieces of a treat through out--->being nice and just brushing lighting over her when she has no knots ---> to just having someone hold her still while brushing her (we always end up scratched and she never bites hard, but still -_- -->plus she is a strong kicker)

What do I do to make the whole process more easy for her and me?

the poor little dog was liying on the table trying to breath and vet would not even look at him without money so i put up a 50.00 he took it gave the dog a shot and told us to call in hour. we did everything was the same so he called the next mornig he die we went picked him up he was covered in vomit and waste they didnt even help him they let him die all alone if we would of only known we would of took him else were what would u have don't

Hi. I am looking forward to adopt a puppy which is mix breed of maltese bichon frise, owner wants me to adopt her at early age 6 weeks atleast, is that too early?, how to raise one and how do they behave? do you think pure maltese or pure bichon frise is better to have or just get mix. I have one pomeranian raised before and he is really intelligent and energetic one but this new breed I have worries me if I could take care of it.

The last time I looked their was a little blood in his stool. He is very active and being very playful even now. Do I wait to take him tomorrow after We get off work around 4pm? Or is this something that I should try to see if their is a 24 hr. vet available? First time Dog owner.
