The last time I looked their was a little blood in his stool. He is very active and being very playful even now. Do I wait to take him tomorrow after We get off work around 4pm? Or is this something that I should try to see if their is a 24 hr. vet available? First time Dog owner.

If you've seen blood, I would go to the 24 hour vet. It could be something he ate that had a sharp edge and cause damage to his intestine. If it's clear, he could get dehydrated over the next 24 hours. I would take him on in tonight. I wish you the best. I hope he lives a long long time and bring you lots of joy.

If the dog does not seem to be in distress and is eating and drinking and maintaining a good activity level then I don't think you need to make a visit to the emergency vet. Some dogs will get colitis (irritation of the digestive system) and this will cause some blood in the stool. Do not give him any food until you notice a normal stool or you can get him to the vet. If he becomes lethargic or passes a large amount of blood please take him to a 24 hour vet. Otherwise I think taking him tomorrow will be fine.
Do not limit his water.

dont take long to take him to the vet,is a matter of fact if they have like a night doctor you should take him if there is night time now where you live, because blood in the stool and diareah is never a good sign, even if the dog is playful,so if you love your dog i know you are going to do the right thing and take him as fast as you can.there has to be a 24 hour vet call 411 or get a phone book and you should find something, even in the computer they will give you the closest to your home,i really hope you get that doggie to the vet soon, good luck.,,

Call the vet. Don't wait. This could be a symptom of tick-borne illness (Lyme or Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever), which is very serious and can be fatal.

most of the people here are telling you to do the right thing take him to a vet asap.blood in the poop is a symptom of the dreaded parvo virus,if left too long he can die from dehydration.puppies are stubborn enough to want to keep playing.also it could be that he swolled something sharp and it is cutting his intestines up which he can also die from.do the right thing.

he may have swallowed a non edible object. I believe you may wait until tomorrow if he is active and seems playful. And its spelled diarreah.
