I just got a new chihahua puppy, she is a girl. When she lays down, i stare at her, her ears go back, and she starts changing the subject. When shes about to sleep, when shes looking my way, i stare at her, her ears go back, and she turns the other way so i cant see her face.
When shes running around the house, i stare at her, she gets bulgy eyes, backs away, and starts barking.

She hates to be stared at? All my other dogs, dont care.

Why does she do this? Its cute, but just like to know.

Staring straight at a dog is an act of threat. Your new puppy doesn't understand that you are just teasing her, and is being submissive, as she thinks you are threatening her.
She will look away to show you that she doesn't want to have to fight with you.

When you stare at your dog, the dog takes it as a challenge. The dog will either turn away from it (as your new baby seems to be doing) or they will accept the challenge (and possibly bite).

I have always stared at my dogs, starting when they were babies...to show them that I was the boss. Once they look away, it means that they have accepted your superiority.

Good luck with your new baby.

Staring is a sign of intimidation. Holding eye contact is also a sign of dominance. Thats why you never look an aggressive dog in the eyes or they bite you. Thats why your dog cowers at you staring at her, she is being passive to your aggressive

Actually all dogs hate to be stared at, but Chihuahua has an especially expressive personality, it is extrovert.
It just reacts more expressively than other dogs.

When you look canines directly in the eye they see it as a threat.. She is new and doesn`t know people language like your other dogs do.. Give her some time. she has to get to know everyone.. By the way. Good luck with your new baby.. God bless. {;-)

Stop it.What you are doing is cruel. How would you like it if a huge person was staring at you? The poor puppy is trying to get you to stop.

Why the heck do you stare at her? Do you have anything better to do? Maybe she doesn't like to be looked at. Have you ever thought of that?

it happens if you just got the chihuahua puppy, she is probably still adjusting

it happened to both of my chihuahua the very day i got them, they are shy and very inferior

but guess what, chihuahua puppies are easy to get, after two to three days you two will get along better..

She is shy. She probably was not well socialized before you got her. Just give her lots of love and attention and she should come around.
