I would report the vet to the vet. board in your state. You can find it online. He should lose his license. That is totally inhumane and unacceptable. Never, ever use that vet again and tell all of your friends about what he did.
I would also report him to the SPCA for animal cruelty.

This is one of the most inhumane things I have ever heard a vet doing. I work for a vet and even she agrees. You can report the vet if it makes you feel better but it might not do anything because every vet clinic assigns their own policies. It was ignorant on his behalf and he should be in some way responsible but one way to prevent this from happening again (I am in no way blaming your or putting you down as a dog owner, plz don't think I am) is to check into pet insurance. You can pay as little as $5 or $10 a month and it will cover any unexpected emergencies. It doesn't bring back your baby but knowing you have another in your home it may be a good idea. But for sure never see that vet again and put out a word of mouth of the services you received. I am truly sorry.

Vets take the amended version of the Hyppocratic Oath, which they swear to. In that version of the Hyppocratic Oath, they vow to help, not harm, and to take measures to save an animal's life, if it is in their power to do so.
I am not sure what the laws of your state are, but you can definitely sue if your city's bylaws allow it. I would take him for everything he has and hopefully put him out of business! I know money cannot replace the friend you have lost, but it will allow you to get a new friend when the time is right. You could also set up a fund for emergency procedures with another vet who actually cares, or you could donate some of it to the ASPCA. They are a great cause because they help prevent things like this from happening in the first place.
I am so sorry about your loss. Keep your chin up, and remember, he does not feel pain anymore. He is waiting to be reunited in the afterlife. God bless you.

You should find one vet that you can trust. That way your sure to know your pet is in the best capable hands. Research the names and places of vets. Check with the better business bureau for complaints. My dog got a cut on her side and I only had $40.00. The vet said I could make payments of $20.00 a week. He was more concerned with my dog than with my money and also gave me a discount. I've known my vet for over 15 years now and have never gotten much conversation out of him but I know I can trust him and he cares.

That sounds horrible. If you get another dog, form a relationship with a vet (presumably a different vet) before there is a tragedy and you will probably have much better service in an emergency. People are, by nature, more helpful to those with whom they have an existing relationship.

this is disgusting i would report the vet. people dont realise that a pet is a part of a family, i recently lost my dog to cancer and the vet was very understanding and kind but the cost was unbelievable considering we didnt even get to have him home alive. that vet should have been more considerate to your feelings and cleaned him up before you got there, you didnt need to know the circumstances of the last minutes of your dogs life. dont stand for this.

That is really cruel and they don't deserve to even be a vet!! I really feel bad for you :(( I know what it's like to lose a pet! I hope you can get some compensation or at least an apology from this so-called vet!

The dog may have been choking. He should have checked and cleared the airway if that was the problem. Sounds like he just left him alone to die without trying to save him. I am so sorry for your loss.

It's a real shame that the dog died, but if you had no money you should have taken your sick dog to the humane society. You would have had to sign him over to them to get him treated and you wouldn't have gotten him back. They would have found him a new home with someone who could afford to care for him.
Vets and doctors don't work for free. If your car broke down, would you expect a mechanic to fix it for free? If you're hungry and went to a restaurant, would you expect them to feed you for free? Get real.

I would have threatened to report him to the ASPCA . I also would have told him to find a new job! It's obvious he has no compassion towards animals and that he has no business working in the profession!
