Hi,
I am fostering a kitten, who is 5 months old. She was 3 months old when someone traped her, and surrendered her to the shelter. Than an employee adopted her and has worked on tamming her. She is tammed, and loves to be held and will purr. But if she is not in a cage, its impossible to find her, she will hide all day long and all night, only coming out to eat and use the litter box, but she will only come out when you are not there. I have had her for 2 weeks now and I still can not let her have free run of the room. Is it too late for her to trust humans? Do you think I will ever be able to let her out of the cage and have free run, and than come out and see me?

I live alone in an apartment and am thinking about getting a cat. I've never had a cat before. What kinds of supplies would I need to get? How much should I expect to spend on these supplies?

dirty cats? she has over 20 indoor cats, and she can't keep up with them....we go out in public and people stare and sniff,, and it's getting VERY embarrasing. I have 2 cats,,, but I keep their boxes clean. I love her,,, and don't want to hurt her feelings. she has O.C.D. and is a cat collector. her house is so dirty, and gross. I have offerd to help out with all kitty's but she says NO WAY... i have not seen her home in almost 10 years.

we got a cat from some people a while ago. she had about 3 litters of kittens with them. they told us that she had been spayed . we also had one of her kittens. the kitten ran away about a month ago. now the mother cat is starting to act really weird and she keeps meowing nonstop especially when we pet her almost like she wants something or something is wrong. does anyone have any idea what if anything might be wrong with her.

I adopted a one year old, spayed, rescue, female cat a couple of weeks ago. She has a few behavioural issues I'd like some advice on:

- "love bites". She comes up for affection, presses her head into your hand / purring etc. Then suddenly bites / swipes out her paw. I know this is common and you should just look out for the warning signs BUT when she comes up friendly and purring, her tail is already swishing and her ears are already down... Anyone else experienced this?!

- snapping. This is recent, since my parents arrived for Christmas. I think the change of routine / faces has unsettled her but she's been randomly attacking us. She's adopted an empty cardboard box as her grumpy-box and retreats in there for space. I'm wary in case this attacking stays even once parents have gone!

She has a fishing rod toy she loves but is it encouraging her to become more aggressive?

Any input welcomed!

A beautiful tabby cat ran right into the headlights of my Ford Thunderbird. I was going about 50mph and had no time to react. It felt like both left tires went directly over him but by the time I got turned around it was gone. I know I hit it but what happened to it? I hope it's not suffering.

The older one is angry that the new one is in the picture and hisses and growls, while the little one just seems to not care much. We put the little one in a cage and let them swat at eachother for a while, and it was the older one swatting at the little one mostly , but the little one did defend himself. It's getting annoying having to keep them in separate rooms. Any advice?

how much should i pay a house sitter if they're going to watch my house for a week? They will have to feed my cats, my dog, and my fish. They will need to walk the dog three times a day and clean the cat box once a day. What would you pay someone to do all of that?

note: they get to stay at our house and we'll pay for the meals (they're in college so this to them is a great deal)

I just got a very nice gift from my mom in the mail for my three cats, a big stocking filled with 20+ Christmas theme toys. Seemed like a year's worth of fun for my kitties, but on further inspection about 2/3 of the toys are in my opinion completely unsafe for cats. Some are made with pipe cleaners with sharp ends, or are so poorly put together I worry about them eating googley eyes or other bits they could chew off and swallow. One had tinsel that came off when I opened the bag! I know how much it cost to have surgery done on cats how eat things that get stuck in their insides! So my mom's nice gift seems like a complete rip off for the money she spent (she left the price tag on, so I know it wasn't cheep either).

I have two 10 week old kittens, and when they playfight, their ears bend back really far.
Does this mean they don't like each other or is it just how they play?
One of them tries to bite the others neck all the time too and the other makes a really weird noise?!

I have 2 cats and 2 litter boxes in my place...

The one cat pees and everything is fine. the other cat pees and it just turns the litter dark. So when i go to scoop it up nothing happens.

Any clue as to why my one cat's pee doesn't clump. Same diet, same litter?

My cat just had, for all I know, her first taste of the stuff. She went through a flipout period where she was really squirrelly, jumping up at the cords on the miniblind, bolting around the house, jumping in a bunch of plastic sacks on the floor where I was wrapping Christmas presents. Now she is laying beside me and appears to be stoned out of her mind.

Looks like she had a great time with it. Wonder how it feels?

I ate a cookie with some chocolate on top of it earlier. One of the chocolate chunks fell off the cookie and onto my shirt. The heat from my laptop melted the chocolate. After awhile I moved the laptop and then my kitty Lily jumped onto me and layed right onto the chocolate. I didn't notice for awhile after she got off me and then changed the shirt. She now has chocolate on her chest/armpit area and she isn't letting me take it off.

She hates baths (I really don't feel like having a dozen claw marks on me at the moment..), and I just tried putting warm water on a towel and clean her that way and she started meowing and acting like she was dying lol. Now she is angry and wont come near me..

Any other tips? I threatened to shave her but I think it's a bit too cold for that, haha.

I hear that dogs are not allowed to have chocolate-as it is like poison for them.

What about cats? I am very careful that I don't let her have any sort of junk food...or anything else besides cat food and milk anyway.

I'm 31 weeks pregnant almost 8 mths. I have 2 cats and most people think that I should get rid of them because they'll try to steal the babies milk right out of there mouths. Is this true? Has anyone had cats and a baby at the same time has the cats tried to do this? It does scare me to think about it. I don't want to hear shame on me either. I need to know and if you have personal expierience (not old wives tales) then please tell me.
