She probably has a common virus that kittens get.
There is no specific treatment. It should run its course in a week or two. The real problem is that when a cat is congested, she won't eat or drink because she can't smell the food.
A cat won't eat what it can't smell, so she runs the risk of becoming dehydrated and starving in the meantime.
If she can use a litter box, use the clumping kind of litter so you can sort of keep track on how much urine she is making.
If is not much she could already be dehydrated.
Either look up the number for a 24-7 emergency pet clinic - which you may or may not have within a reasonable distance from where you live, or get a small syringe (without the needle) they sell these in walmart type stores or some drug stores, and squirt water and or dilute baby food (or cat food) into her mouth.
She may also be running a fever (102 is normal for a cat)
Which would make her lose fluids faster.
You will have to do this every hour or so to keep her from dehydrating.
At the clinic, they can give her fluids under her fur to help keep from dehydrating.
It would help to know how long she has been ill.
Check your Yellow Pages or on line for such 24 hour emergency pet clinic. But they will charge you, but you should be expecting to do this anyway, just for routine care and shots.
I will be happy to answer any else I can.

She might have a cold. If she is from a pet store, or (even a less fortunate mill) she may have caught something.
Cats get antibiotics (from the vet) that will knock it right out, but you're right, vet is closed, and emergency clinics are very expensive.
Watch her carefully. If it gets worse, or she seems to have trouble breathing, swallowing or drinking water, get her to an emergency clinic NOW. (look up one on the internet that is near you, and write address/phone down just in case you need it)
If she is just a bit uncomfortable, try this:
Prepare some wet cat food in a microwavable tray. Microwave it for 15 seconds, or until it feels warm (and mushy) throughout, but not hot enough to burn her mouth. Give it to her. This may soothe her nose/throat and feel "comforting".
Same with her water. Make sure it's not "cold".
(YOU know how it feels to drink cold liquids when you have a cold, right?)
Another thing you could do is to steam up the bathroom from a hot shower, and bring her in there, holding her in a towel and letting her rest on your shoulder. This might be comforting too.
Make sure she stays warm and hydrated. Wet food is the best way if she doesn't like to drink alot of water. Dry food should be available, but won't be as appetizing.
Avoid milk or kitty milk, as this can create mucus (we all know how hard it is to breathe with that!)
Wipe her eyes with a soft, warm, damp cloth. Keep her feeling clean, warm and secure.
Encourage her to use the litter box, so fluids are moving through her body and helping to cleanse impurities.
Seek Vet assistance on Wednesday, after Xmas, so you can get antibiotics. These are given by mouth (eyedropper) twice a day by you, and will hopefully get rid of the virus or symptoms in a week's time.
Good luck!

my cats have the same symptions. they have been diagnosed with feline rhinotracheitis, which is a very serious viral infection, especially in kittens. it is often fatal to young ones. secondary infections can be treated with a medicine called clavamox.
some of my cats are asymptomatic and some have wet eyes, sneezes, runny nose etc.
a virus is something that never is cured like a bacterial infection, but stays with the cat for life.
google the name above to get more information. i don't mean to scare you. your vet will be able to tell you what is wrong with your cat, but take this very seriously.
my cats always have been and will always will be sick. in fact i lost one to this disease last month.
your cat may not have this specific health issue, but cats do not get 'colds' or 'flu'.
keep him warm, feed him food if he will eat, no smell-no eat, and keep water for him. keep his eyes and nose clean so he can breath easier. try to keep him quiet (resting) if you can. less excitment is better. keep any other cats you may have AWAY from him as this is contagious.
important to see a vet!!!!!

Just keep her warm and out of drafts.
Make sure she drinks and doesn't get dehydrated and eats too.
Give some wet canned foods, if she'll eat, that way she'll also get nutrition with the fluid.
She'll be fine till after Xmas when the vet can exam her and deworm.
Have a Merry Christmas with your new kitty!

Kittens tend to get wheepy eyes and little colds. She will be ok for tonight, but you do need to take her to the vet as soon as you can. Make sure she is eating and drinking. If you have any other animals make sure you keep her away from them.

I'd keep looking around for any thing that is open tonight. Maybe run to pets mart and see if they have anything over the counter.
Wipe her eyes with a damn washcloth. Keep her warm. I liked the idea about filling up the bathroom with steam. Keep her close, and love on her. Keep washing her eyes.

I would make sure she has fresh water and food make sure she is drinking and using the litter well. Just keep her eyes clean with a soft cotton ball slightly wet it with warm water. make sure she doesnt go into fever or really lathargic if she does make sure you have an emergency vet you can visit if she goes into major illness mode.

I'm not sure what you can do either. Just give her some good cat food (canned chicken or turkey) or even some human baby food that is JUST meat - no salt, garlic or onion in it. If she eats a little meat every few hours and you keep her warm she should do OK.
