After ages trying to get one myself, I've given up and an appointment has been made for my cat tomorrow morning - the vet says she can be sedated and a sample taken then. However, no-one has mentioned to me that she should be fasting - so I'm not sure if I can give her anything in the morning e.g. food or milk... her appointment at the vet isn't until 10 a.m. and she's up and about 6 a.m. - I don't want to be starving her necessarily....anybody know if it would be ok to give her something light to eat and drink prior to sedation?

I just moved in to my own home (single), and since I always had several pets at a time growing up (mostly dogs and cats), I would like to get at least one or possibly two of each (cats and dogs).

My question is whether it would be better to get them all at the same time, so they 'grow up' together, or would it be better to get them seperately (e.g. get the kittens first, and when they're grown up a bit get the dogs). Also, if it is better to get them seperately, would it be better to get the kittens or the puppies first?

I'm on a extended leave from work at the moment (probably going to be at least six months, up to a possible eight months) because of a medical issue (it won't affect my ability to care for the kittens/puppies, including walking the dogs).

I will probably just see what the local animal shelter has for kittens when it's time to get them. For the puppies, I love larger dogs, so it will most likely be a pair of standard poodles, or a S. Poodle and an Italian Greyhound.

I asked a question earlier about getting a cat into her carrier. But now I'm wondering about the after-vet, upset feelings she may have. (My husband took her to the vet, and they're gone now.) Once she stayed upset with me for like 2 weeks after a move.

Any suggestions?

My cat used to be so outgoing and playful, she was a kitten when i got her a she is now a fully grown cat. I cant find any reason why she would lose her playfullness, i dont know what to do. Shes a lovely little thing but i dont know how to make her comfortable.

A mother cat and her kitten moved into my shed.

We're having some freezing temperatures over here and I would like nothing more than bringing her in the house, but I'm concerned about the health of my current animals.

I have no cats, only dogs - what are possible diseases that can be passed from cats to dogs?

I know you can get great gourmet ones from a pet store, but if I were to just walk in Publix or any grocery store, what kind of cat food is the best?
I have EVO for my cat, but the other day it was too late to go to the pet store, so I went to the grocery store and got her Fancy Feast and she LOVED it... is it the healthiest best one for a cat to eat?

My cat has been missing for three days, which is very unlike him. He's fat and old and hardly leaves the house anymore. We let him out early in the evening and haven't seen him since. Our neighbors said they heard a cat fight a few nights ago, but we went looking everywhere and can't find any sign of him. Could this cat fight have possibly been a cat and a fischer cat fighting? Are there any signs to show that a fischer cat has been around? Two of our neighbors cats have disappeared...one about two or three years ago, and one about a year and a half ago. Do these disappearances link at all?

I had a fallout with my last Veterinarian. I've requested copies of all medical records for my Cats but she has refused. Am I not legally entitled to these documents? Do I have a legal recourse I can pursue? Can she just deny me these documents just because she hates me??? I don't owe them any money and something about what she's doing doesn't seem legal.

My kitty is a little over 1 year old, female, spayed. Everyday around 3am-7am she will paw at my bedroom door and meow for HOURS to see me. I know she just wants to see me because once I open the door out of frustration and walk out and it shuts up and follows me, not caring about going in my room.

If I leave my door open or let her in she will knock over EVERYTHING and get into things she's not suppose to. Example: She knocked over a 5 lb. candle right on top of my PS2. Example: She jumps on top of my tv and tries to jump into the window sill.

Another thing she does is she will run right up to you and bite you really hard and jump off faster than you can say "OWWW!" She usually nips my legs or my arms. She even bit my elbow once!

This behaviour is making me so depressed and frustrated. I can't sleep. I can't walk around without her biting me with her little fangs. It brings me to tears because I can't keep living like this but I love my kitty.

My cat has been throwing up water at about 6 am ever since the vet put him on a strict diet (only a couple of days ago) - two feedings, one in the morning, one in the early evening. Is it possible he overcompensating for his lack of food at night by drinking too much water? Should I change his feeding time?
