I have been feeding a mouser cat for the summer and here the fall at night. The cat keeps the rodents away from my bird feeder and I'm selling and moving nov and I want to take this cat with me, we have a relationship of sorts. I say kitty kitty but actually we haven't met, we know little about each other.

Yep! Get a havahart trap! Caught quite a few stray cats that way to get them fixed! I just put wet food in the back end of it and spots of it up to the entrance.

Go to your local humane society and get a humane cat trap. They should show you how to use it. If he is feral and doesn't allow you to handle him, this is your best shot at catching him. While you have him in captivity, get him neutered and vaccinated (set the trap on days when you have pre-arranged a vet visit) and when you get to your new home, keep him a barn, garage or other enclosed space for a couple of weeks (with a litterbox) so he won't run away. Allow him access to this shelter even after you let him out and keep his food in there.

Try getting to know it better, spend some time talking to it, trying to play with him with cat toys, ect. Build a better relationship with it. If its farrel that may be a little hard at first, but they should be able to warm up to you. Especally if it knows you like him. or her. If you trap it, it may have a negative effect. If you really want this cat contact a loal vet, explain your situation and see what you can do. Good luck!

very hard!
the cat already has a home and seems like he likes it, cats are territorial animals and they do not like to move! even if you catch him and take him with you , the cat will be stressed and miss his territory... leave the cat and ask to the new owners to take care of him and inform them about his good duties around the bird feeder.
Good Luck
