you think it could infect other cats? i'm worried cause i have to leave my cats in my room while my sister cat is being treated. i don't know what kind of gland is it. I'm just worried :( i want to keep my cats safe.

It's probably not contagious. It sounds like it's a blocked scent gland. Cats and dogs alike, have scent glands on key parts of their bodies to help them mark their territory.
Take the cat to a vet so it can be properly diagnosed and treated. If it is a blocked gland, the vet will shave the area and clean it out. It might look bad at first but the kitty will recover quickly.

Glands are under the jawline, if I'm not mistaken. If yours has a swollen area along the tooth line, it's probably an infected root on one of the teeth (very painful). If it's anywhere else, it's likely an abscess.

Its possible that its a boil.........my cat had one once and it broke and healed all by itself. Just keep an eye on it.
