I'd say a lot of contributers are 50 - 75% right in what they say. The thing is that cats are very complex creatures.
Having them neutered does affect them, as it removes their hormonal swings, and dampens their character as a result.
You also need to ask yourself some questions about how you keep your cat. Is she the only feline in the house? I ask this because people think that cats like to be alone - they can become like this but if you look at feral cats - domestic cats born wild, you will rarely, if ever, find a lone cat. They live in colonies!
Do you leave your cat alone for more than eight hours at a time? If you do, your cat will have shut down because she is effectively living in isolation for most of the time. It is difficult to get an adult cat to accept a companion; so you will need to fill the gap.

Hand feed her with some roast chicken. - you should do this once a week. Do it wherever you feel comfortable; you want it to take time, an hour or so. Peel a strip off the bird and eat it. Talk to your cat, peel another strip off, eat half and give her the rest. tease her, make her beg, turn it into a game. Naturally, she'd work for her food, which would stimulate her behaviour. When cats play, they are practicing hunting and fighting. I really would recommend doing this more than once a week.

You can try to engage her, either on the floor, or on the bed.
Lie down beside her, get on her level, with your head down and poke her paw with your finger. keep bugging her till you get a response. Stroke her and go away. Keep this up; it would be an idea to wear some protective clothing, like thick gloves and arm protection - improvise; an oven glove and a towel wrapped around your arm. Goad her into having a play fight but you must win! Cats are hierachial, and you need her to be subservient to you - it is the only way to get her to change - you need her to see you as her Mum. So adopt the role and do what you see mother cats do to their kittens - but remember your strength and go softly.

I hope this helps you enjoy your cat :-)

How long since she was spayed? Sometimes the anesthesia will change their personality. My aunt's cat came home from being spayed and it hid in the rafters of the house. It would not even come out to eat. My aunt had to put the food in the rafters. She was very fearful of everyone and everything. She lived her life in the rafters, seldom coming out. Could be that your cat is bored. Fix a nice spot on a place where she can look out the window. If you have a window, place a bird feeder outside, so she can watch the birds. Be gentle with her and when you are sitting on the couch at night, have a good treat with you, like a bit of tuna or cheese or whatever. Don't push her to sit with you. Talk to her and offer to pet her a little bit. Find a fun toy. The ones on a long wire, with a toy mouse at the end are usually fun for cats. You can sit on the couch and coax her to "catch the mouse." But seriously, try a comfy spot, just for her, near a window. And try the birdfeeder. She may just be bored and this would give her something to do. Good luck to you. Keep loving her!!!

Female cats tend to be either really lovey or really queen bee type. If you get a kitten and shes lovey she may want to start acting the kittens age (along with a little help from cat nip). If shes a queen bee type she will resent the kitten and bottle up even more. If she has a favorite spot to sit on a chair try sitting there. Cats love routine so maybe develope a little routine with her like when you come home say Hi and get excited to see her or have certain times you feed her. This will help build you two a closer bond.

Cats usually become less playful when they mature. Especially when they have been spayed. The non social behavior is the mystic of a cat to be more or less loving whenever they feel like it. Some cats also have a hunters mentality they feel as if they must be disconnected from you in order to keep their edge. One of my cats, my oldest will love on you but only when she wants to, and she will even play at times but, it is rare to see it. However my youngest, even though she is mature, would stay on your lap all the time and play anytime and even plays with my dogs. It is just like people there are no two alike. If she is being fed, and given what she needs she is happy. If she wasn't she'd leave. That is just how cats are. Don't worry she will be ok just love her the way she is.

By the time you become aware of a change in your cat's behavior the cat has been in distress for quite some time. No way to tell what's wrong of course, vomiting is a symptom of many things, possible poisoning. The diagnosis needs to made by the veterinarian. To do? Go outside and get the cat into the house. Take the cat in to the veterinarian ASAP.

Hi,
I myself have 4cats outside,and 4 inside cats.
I don't know why cats do it.But they are always more playful when they are young.
My question would be this.Has anyone else been around her, that might have hurt her?
That wouild be a good reason for her not
wanting you to get to close to her.You need
to check with a vet,and ask him what it could be.
She will come around sooner or later.Cats
that have known love will always come back for it.Unless they have been abused by someone. And if that is the case than it might take longer.
I would just keep feeding her,and giving her as much love, as she will let you.give to her.
Maybe there is something wrong that you can not see.So take her to the vet,and have her checked out.
I will pray that things work out for you,and your cat.

Well, cats love to pull this one on us. Pretend to be really cute and loveable, then when they've got you, they turn arrogant and stroppy. Normally I'd make an outrageous demand to barbecue the beast but this case is different.

Cats pick up on weird things. My guess is that something changed with you and the cat has reacted to it. The more she is exposed to the wild the wilder she will become.

Anyway, if she stays that way - it's barbecue time. Be sure to tenderise her with a mallet first. As to whether you should wrap her in foil first, well that's debatable. Some go for live cooking but they make an awful racket.

I personally dont own a cat but when my dog acts like that she is sick. You might want to take her to the vet if she starts to display other strange symptoms. My dog is a big ham and sucks love dry from us. When she is sitting around in an empty room in a corner she is sick (she has lots of indigestion problems). So most likely your cat is just getting older or it might need some medical assistance.

Umm, some cats grow out of playing when they become an adult. Some crave attention ( i have 4 and they are all different ) some don't. Make your little one feel special change her diet, give her lots of love and play with her using string, cats love that.
Good luck...hope it works because cats are fab animals.

Cat's get more and more hateful the older they get. I know it stinks. Try a toy with cat nip, or buy a bag of catnip and add it to a scratching box. This may help stimulate her and make her more playful.
