3 litter boxes for 10 cats is not enough

Well, I hope you did the obvious and laid a plastic tarp or cheap shower curtain over your bed when you're not in it? Why keep tempting fate if you know one of the cats does it--put a barrier over the bedspread and save yourself some washing.

If the quilt/bedcover is new, some new fabrics have 'sizing' in them, a liquid the fabric is dipped in so it stays wrinkle free. It's done at the factory and it spells like cat pee to cats. Usually it takes a good 4 or 5 washings to have the stuff removed from the fabric.

If one of the cats is being ambushed in the litter boxes by the other cats, they may have figured using the bed is ok. You have to fix the problem causing the cat to pick the bed, to stop it.

If you have a video camera, you can set it up facing the bed and let it run for an hour or two. See who goes up on the bed and scratches around.

You should also get a plastic sheet to put under your bottom sheet, to protect the mattress. Those are available at most places that sell bedsheets.

I recommend getting it checked out at a vet... but that's difficult if you don't know what cat it is. It could have kidney stones, a urinary track infection or some other kidney problem. If it checks out fine then I'd say try getting another litter box or two and seeing if that helps.

I am assuming that you cleaned the bed very well and there is no urine scent at all on it... if not it could even be a different cat each time because they are smelling where the other one already has gone.

my last suggestion... Maybe try covering the bed with a plastic drop cloth for a few days when you aren't using it and see if they keep peeing on it then.

He or she may have a Urinary Tract Infection. The only way to find that out is to do a urinalysis (hard to do since you're not sure which one). You'll have to find a way to do a process of elimination to find out which one is doing it so that they can be taken to the vet and if they do have a UTI, they'll receive and antibiotic.

You may want to add a couple more litter boxes to the mix also.

Another thought:
Sometimes cats can live with each other for years, then out of the blue, someone scares another or they get aggravated with each other and then something like this can happen. If it's not a medical problem (Like a UTI), then it's a behavioral one. I would rather it be medical....easier to take care of. Just a thought.

There is a lot of things that could be going on with your cat. I had a male cat for 4 years that went out side every night and came inside only when it was raining.

One day he started to pee on my mom's bed. She got pissed off and took him to the Vet. The Vet told her that the cat was simply marking it's territory, a way to show that the cat loved them. He did it once and never did it again.

That doesn't sound like the problem here though, as the cat keeps doing it. Male cats tend to spray as a way to mark their territory, especally when females are around. Fixing your cat might stop the pissing.

If that doesn't work it either has something to do with the cat's bathroom area itself, or the cat has a problem. Take the cat to a vet and see what is wrong with it.

If that doesn't work, beat the cat with a 2X4.

she or he is claming you as their own.she is telling the other cats that you are her property and for them to back off.i have 1 indoor cat and 10 out side and every morning when we get up she has left us a big surprise right at the front door so the other cats will smell her presence.by the way when she was small she use to mark us by jumping on the bed at night and peeing on our backs.i have had to change me gownand the bed clothes many times.

You need to empty the litter trays more than twice a day with 10 cats. They're either marking their territory or the litter tray is full.
