I recently had a kitten die of FIP and I have two other cats. Just would like to hear from others what they did to help prevent it from spreading to others besides getting the required shots.
They have already been exposed and only one got a shot of prevention prior to the exposure and the other did not.

I just got a 6 month old cat from a rescue centre. The woman i got her off told me she had been wormed already, but everyday since ive had her ive since worms crawling out of her backside ( not a nice sight!). I also used strong hold on her, but the worms keep coming out. I was told by my vet that they come out to die, so the treatment is working, does this sound right? im wondering how long it'll be before they stop coming out?... also, my cat is having to have eye drops at the moment and its a nightmare to get them in, does anyone have any advice on the best way to do it?
Thanks v.much for your help

I have two cats and two litter boxes, but one cat continually poops outside the box. We thought it was to tell us she's upset about when we leave on vacation or there's not enough food or water, but we haven't been on vacation in a long time, and there has been adequate food and water. Anyone else have this problem??

I helped a lady who had too many cats. Her landlord was going to call animal control on her, and then they would have put the cats to sleep. She brought 3 to my house and I told her I would help her find them homes. I have been trying to find them homes for a week now. And not a single one has been adopted. I am moving in a week and also have 4 cats of my own so I cannot keep anymore. I am going to take them to a non kill shelter now but I feel horrible. Anyone know someone who would want a sweet cat? They are all three so sweet. Any suggestions?

I have learnt a lot more about cats just from the answers to common questions about cats on this site - things I kinda "suspected" before and things I did not know yet. For example, the cause and sgns of diabetes in cats. Now I can take steps to prevent it from developing in my cats. I think Yahoo answers is real handy this way.

most of the time they really aren't doing those things. they just want to get a rise out of people and they get lots of enjoyment out of seeing all those answers calling them names and stuff. if nobody posts anything to those questions they will probably stop appearing and we can all be happy here!

I have a cat who is quite large (23 lbs). He is orange/white and sheds like crazy!! Is there anything to lessen the shedding (besides brushing...I feel like I am doing that constantly!!). I won't stop brushing him....I just want to know if there is something that can help along with the brushing.

I have been feeding formula to my kitten using a bottle for the past few weeks, and is now staring to give it solid food. The kitten can eat from a dish, but it keep sneezing when trying to drink water or formula from the dish.

Is it because the kitten is use to drinking from a bottle or is it still too young to drink from a tray? (it's about 6 weeks old)

When I was holding my kitten, I notice there is a strange sound coming from its body.. like an engine sound and it's non-stop.

Is this normal?

1 Pick up your cat and cradle it in the crook of your left arm as if holding a baby. Position left forefinger and thumb on either side of cat’s mouth and gently apply pressure to cheeks while holding pill in right hand. As cat’s mouth opens pop pill into mouth. Allow cat to close mouth and swallow.

2 Retrieve pill from floor and cat from behind sofa. Cradle cat in left arm and repeat process.

3 Retrieve cat from bedroom and throw away soggy pill.

4 Take new pill from foil wrap, cradle cat in left arm, holding rear paws tightly with left hand. Force jaws open and push pill to back of mouth with right forefinger. Hold mouth shut for a count of ten.

5 Retrieve pill from goldfish bowl and cat from top of wardrobe. Call spouse in from garden

6 Kneel on floor with cat wedged firmly between the knees; hold front and rear paws. Ignore growls and grumbles from cat. Get spouse to hold cat’s head firmly with one hand while forcing a wooden ruler gently into cat’s mouth with the other. Drop pill down the ruler and rub cat’s throat vigorously to make it swallow.

7 Retrieve cat from curtain rail; get another pill from foil wrap. Make a note to buy new ruler and repair curtains. Carefully sweep shattered figurines and vases from hearth and set to one side for gluing later.

8 Wrap cat in a large towel and get spouse to lie on cat with cat’s head just visible from below armpit. Put pill in end of a drinking straw, force cat’s mouth open with pencil and blow down straw.

9 Check label to make sure pill is not harmful to humans, drink a beer to take away the taste. Apply Band-aid to spouse’s forearm and remove blood from the carpet with soap and water.

10 Retrieve cat from neighbour’s shed. Get another pill. Open another beer. Place cat in cupboard and close door onto neck, so as to leave the head showing. Force mouth open with dessertspoon. Flick pill down throat with elastic band.

11 Fetch screwdriver from garage and put cupboard door back on hinges. Drink beer. Fetch scotch. Pour shot, drink. Apply cold compress to cheek and check date of last tetanus jab. Apply whisky compress to cheek to disinfect. Toss back another shot. Throw tee shirt away and fetch new one from bedroom.

12 Ring fire brigade to retrieve the bloody cat from the tree across the road. Apologise to neighbour who crashed into fence while swerving to avoid cat. Take last pill from foil wrap.

13 Tie the little bugger’s front paws to rear paws with garden twine and bind tightly to leg of the dining table. Find heavy pruning gloves from shed. Push pill into mouth followed by large piece of fillet steak. Be rough about it. Hold head vertical and pour 2 pints of water down cat’s throat to wash down pill.

14 Consume remainder of scotch. Get spouse to drive you to A & E, sit quietly while doctor stitches your fingers and forearm, and remove pill from your eye. Call at furniture shop on way home to order new table.

15 Arrange for RSPCA to collect the mutant cat from hell and ring local pet shop to see whether they have any hamsters.

i was taking my cat to an all cats ve theywere very good and i had to go in for a yearly check up. I moved and had to switch vets, now after his shots they said they dont have to see him for 3 years....is this normal for cats? I know dogs have to go every year. Is it because he is getting older and he is an indoor cat?? Thanks.

I have a 11 year old cat. My daughter got a cat 2 years ago, and they get along fine most of the time, altho the older cat does not let the younger cat on my daughter's bed. My daughter is now moving into her own house, and wants to take both cats. She thinks the older one will miss the younger one too much and I should get a new cat. I really don't want to give up my cat, but I don't want him to get depressed either. He already lost one companion ( a cat) 5 years ago. I think that with alot of visiting back and forth, each cat would thrive getting one on one attention, or am I being selfish?
