I have been feeding formula to my kitten using a bottle for the past few weeks, and is now staring to give it solid food. The kitten can eat from a dish, but it keep sneezing when trying to drink water or formula from the dish.

Is it because the kitten is use to drinking from a bottle or is it still too young to drink from a tray? (it's about 6 weeks old)

ha ha ha... yes, kittens will do that - sneeze and splutter - on their first few tries drinking water. Don't worry, he'll get the hang of it sooner or later.

I'm not an expert, but 6 weeks is probably old enough to drink from a dish. If he's eating solid food he should be ok. It sounds like he just hasn't got the hang of it yet.

I'd keep an eye on him to make sure that he doesn't become dehydrated. If he really has a tough time drinking from the dish then you can probably continue using the bottle for another week or two just to keep him hydrated. He'll figure out the dish eventually I would think.

Yes, 6 weeks is kinda young to be feeding in a tray, they shouldnt be taken away from their mothers until about 9 weeks.
NEVER give kittens or cats fresh, (cows) milk. They cannot digest lactose and will eventually suffer from diarrhoea. Water is all that is necessary and if the kitten eats tinned food, it will possibly drink very little water. Water should, however, be left down at all times; especially important if your kitten eats dried food.

I would give it time. Leave the bowl of water there (change it daily) in case the kitten gets curious, but still keep bottle feeding it for now. The kitten will let you know when it's ready to give up the bottle.

Give it a couple more weeks. This sounds like it's trying to "suck" the milk, and it's getting into it's nose. Weaning is more like eight weeks than six.

Keep on introducing the dish as you can. It's a process, not an event. And make sure the dish is very shallow and has only a little water or milk in it at a time.

Blessings to you on your new family member!

My little 6 week old kitty ate solid food fine, but took him a while to drink. I would literally inject the water in his mouth for a few days till he started drinking himself.

she probably hasnt fully developed her senses yet. she may have a hard time distingushing how far away from the dish she is. she'll grow out of it

Give it time... she'll get the hange of it. It's probably because she hasn't seen her momma drink from it. That's generally how they learn to do things.
