she may have ear mites.... youi can go to any petcove or pet shop and get it.. dont put anything else in the ear.. you will start to see black stuff come out of the ear in the next few days.. thats normal if it dosent get better then you need to take her... also use hot spot med. for the hair loss around the ear.. that should help as well... good luck

Your cat has a problem, (what, I don't know) but only the vet can tell you what it is. It is against the law to NOT vaccinate your cat. If you have enough money to pay your bills, buy her food and cat litter, and a flea comb, you should be able to handle a reasonable vet bill. There is such a thing as pet insurance, did you know that?

Have you checked the vets around your area? Do you have friends or neighbors with pets? Do some research on the subject; call around and see if you can get some referrals. Call around and see what each vet charges for shots and clipping claws, etc. It can't be so outrageous that you can't afford it, and if you find a vet that you can't afford, don't go to that vet.

I have a wonderful vet for my cat, and he doesn't charge a whole lot for vaccinations ($25 per shot, and $12 for clipping claws). If you can't afford all the shots at once, find a vet where you can pay for one shot at a time.

Good luck, and I hope your cat feels better soon. Don't wait too long, whatever the condition your cat is in, it will only get worse if you continue procrastinating about it.

OK, first of all, flea combs are a joke. They don't work right. You can have the babies that are very small. Secondly, check inside the ears. See if there is mites or black stuff inside. If mites, clean with Q-tip and alcohl. If just black, clean with Q-tip and peroxide. As for the no vet visit, TAKE THAT IMMEDIATELY. If you don't, you will regret it. Lukemia is one of the largest killers of cats that don't die of old age. It is a very serious matter. Then you would lose your friend, instead of just money. Also, in some states, like Kansas, it is a violation of the law not to have it done. It is a $50 fine and court costs, plus transport fees and boarding fees and other fees, so therefore you are looking at about $300. At least that is how it is in Topeka.

Your cat really needs to see a vet. It could be many things. Don't rely on medical advice you get on Yahoo Answers. Check local shelters in your area. I volunteer at a local cat shelter as a cat adoption counselor and the shelter offers a walk-in low cost vet clinic. It is always crowded and you have to wait and there are vet tech students there, but it is some form of vet care. Check local shelters in your area. Otherwise, where I live, a vet office visit is usually around $40 plus any other medicines you would need. As someone else said, shots are usually around $20 a piece. If it is ear mites, ear medicine is usually not that much. Your cat should also be feline leukemia and FIV tested. The test is usually around $35-$50 dollars. Routine care is not terribly expensive for each item; but I am guessing you will probably pay around $150 if you get this all done at once. Emergency or 24 hour vets usually charge top dollar (around $89) just to walk in the door and all shots and other procedures are usually more money. You may check the web site www.spayusa.org. They offer low cost spay and neuter places in your area. If they offer low cost spaying and neutering, they may also offer low cost vet care.

She probably has ear mites. I just recently aquired a stray and the vet scoped his ears and we could see them they are very small and there is no way to really see them on the outside. Sometimes you can tell that they have them by a lot ob build up when you look into there ear, I am not sure if there is any kind of over the counter stuff but the vet I went to put a medicine on his back(Revolution) to take care of them kind of like the stuff you put in dogs to keep fleas and ticks off.

hi, i REALIZE that you CANT afford take your cat to the vet and its OK! we all love our pets and just because you cant afford to take her to the vet doesnt mean your a bad pet owner! I myself look for homeopathic ways to care for my pets cuz i dont always have the money to take them to the vet or dont like being charged an ARM and a LEG when i get there! with the economy the way it is now sometimes its just not possible to give a fortune to the vet when you have bills to pay and food to put on the table. Try going to earthclinic.com in the pets section for home remedies for severe itching --even try the mange section in pets and the apple cider vinegar one too, it is real good for itching. Good Luck!! And hey, give this person a break , havent any of you been down on your luck? And so what if she's NEVER been to the vet,at least shes loved, warm and fed...She could be homeless or killed or worse!!!!

Check her ears, not for regular earwax but for a black tarry-looking substance. If you see that, then it's probably ear mites. You can purchase medication for that at most stores in the pet care section.

If she's scratching other places as well, check her again for fleas. Sometimes, if an animal doesn't have a lot of fleas, they can be hard to find at first. I you find even one flea on her, you'll need to take care of it before it becomes an infestation.

You can buy the appropriate flea medicine at any pet supply store ike Petco. There are two types. One kills the adult fleas almost immediately and the other kills the eggs and/or sterilizes the female fleas.

Meanwhile, please don't tape her feet. Instead buy her some claw covers. They're inexpensive. They're just little plastic claws that go over her real claws. And since she doesn't have any vaccinations, be sure to keep her indoors at all times. Good luck.

I'm sorry, but you NEED to take the poor cat to the vet. She probably has ear mites, and she is suffering every moment. Don't tape her up. She might have fleas. Ear mites do much more then just live inside your pet's ears: they gradually munch on the wax, and chew away the delicate lining of the ear. PLEASE, if there is any low-priced vet around where you live, or you know someone with veterinary experience, take her to the person ASAP!!!!

FIRST OF ALL!!!NEVER BATH A CAT !!!Cats are very clean animals, they constantly clean them selves ,and you are going to have to take your cat to the vet ,he will tell you to stop bathing it also ,your cat could have dry skin,or a more serious problem.your cat could also have ear mites.or some thing you have bathed him in,if you cant afford a vet, call one and ask what you need to do to get your cat well ,ther are free help ask about that, free animal care is available ,pick up the phone ,i would tell you i believe that you truly do have money for the vet ,you pay for the net and you have a computer, unless you are a child then i understand. your cat loves you please love him back and get him some help even if it costs money.good luck from kathy a w

im sorry but i cant believe that you have had the cat for 3-4 years and have n ever taken him to the vet. If you couldnt afford a pet you should not have gotten one. Im sorry but this makes me very sad to hear this...people need to take account all expenses of pet care. Anyway your kitty could have ear mites or skin irritaion both require a vets attention.

i agree about taking her to a vet. if you couldn't afford to take her to the vet why did you get her? i'm 19 years old and i have two cats that i take to the vet and granted i really can't afford it either ( i live on my own and hold a full time job) but they need to go and i knew before i got them what kind of responsibility it was but i choose that responsibility. live up to your decisions. the cat doesn't deserve that its legally neglect.
and also you can bathe your cat but only with flea shampoos and that kind of stuff. dont bathe her if there is not a good reason. she will keep herself very clean on her own
