Just a random thought. I was watching my house cat assume her normal perch on the edge of my bed last night when I considered whether or not it was a "protective" position. My dog used to sleep in the same place and he definetly went into protection mode while I slept. I know that wild cats are more solotairy animals than dogs- with their pack mentality- yet I know that certain great cats do hunt and live in packs, for example lions. Would house cats have any of the similar pack mentality with their owners that dogs do? I wonder if there are any stories of normal house cats attacking people in "protection" of their owners?

We adopted a pair of 5-month old boy kittens (fixed) last week. One is already affectionate and playfull but the other hisses at me and freaks out at my husband (hissing & clawing & biting). I don't want to just ignore him as I want him to get used to us - but he doesn't seem to want to be touched at all. He was ok the first few days we had him - but all of the sudden he has turned into a little monster. How do I deal with this?

My roomate just bought a cat and it meows really loud and annoys me and the other roomate in the house. Other than a muzzle (kidding) what are some ways in which I can help teach the cat not to meow?

am happy to use anything safe, easily applied and wouldn't take too long to wear off, in case it is a disaster!
She is so obvious to the other cats that she has no chance to be a 'real' cat. She may look like a princess but she is a tiger!

i've got a cat with cancer....he developed it as a kitten (he is now aobut 3 yrs old)....he has lot's of tumors on his body/face....he doesn't seem to be in any pain and is a happy, playful, loving cat.....my vet has had few answers, has consulted with many different specialists, and apparently it's a type of cancer nobody has really ever seen before.....
i'm wondering if anyone else has had a cat with cancer and how long the cat lived with it....thanks

He vomits his food about once a week after eating. I'm guessing from hairballs but can this be helped or even prevented?

My boyfriends cat is about 16. She's was sick really bad with diarrhea for a couple of months and then we brought her to the Vet where they put her on a special diet. She was doing so much better. She loved the food and would be so excited when you feed her. Then my boyfriends Dad got sick and passed away, and ever since then she's been sick again, but this time, she just doesn't want to eat as much. She nibbles at the food, and now she is really weak. I'm really scared she's not going to recover this time and I can't see my boyfriend go through another major loss. I was hoping someone could tell me what to do.

I have to add another note. I have a Chihuahua and we rescued a kitten together. When I first moved in with my Chihuahua, his cat was not happy but soon adapted and no longer had a problem with her. But when we rescued the kitten at 3 weeks that's just about when she started to get sick. We've had the kitten for 7 months now, so we can't get rid of him now. What should I do?

At random times when my cat's asleep, he'll start freaking out, like twitching violently, then even jumping up in the air while completely spazzing out, throwing his head around, fur bristling, then runs like hell out of the room. Why does he do this?

I have a cat that has had a major change in her mood. She is about 8 years old and she has become very nasty. She bats at me all the time and hissing at everyone including her old playmate which in another cat. What would bring on her sudden mood change. I have them both in for a complete physical a few months back and all is well with them.

my 3 yr old cat is perfectly heallty and always has been, however money is knida tight right now and i just got the paper from the vet that he is due for his annual check up, i am totally crazy about my cat, no kiddos, just my kitty, anyhow, i know vets need to make money too, but i am wondering how bad it could be if i just skip his annual for now, he has always had all his shots etc, and is totally an insid cat, is there anything that could harm him by not getting more shots, vaccinations since i have been taking him, or maybe just mabye i will be ok on skipping this check up.....

I knew a cat once who would jump into your arms on command. I'd love for my cat to do that. She already runs to greet me when I get home and stretches up against my leg to say hello.
A few months ago I started saying "up" every time I see her jump, but she still isn't associating the word with the action.
Does anyone know how to train a cat to jump into my arms on command?
