well thats just his personalilty but maybe he was abused before.....just be nice to him and give him a lot of attention or if that doesn't loosen him up then take him somewhere and see if someone can train him or something

Some cats are naturally a little skittish, shy or easily scared. Give the cat time to completely adjust and get comfortable in his new environment. He'll come around eventually - just don't hurry it up becuase that might achieve the exact opposite of what you want, with the cat even more fearful and cautious than before.

Actuall yes. Get him a small cat carrier and crate train him. This will give him somewhere to go when he's scared where he'll feel safe. After he is crate trained you can take him into areas that would normally frighten him. Let him have is crate in close proximity and eventurally he will feel more secure and overcome his fear. Remember cats as well as dogs forget about almost everything where food is concerned. Use snacks as bait to take his mind off the things that scare him. It will help.

I have 3 cats, and my oldest is SUCH a coward. He used to be much worse, though. I learned that if I left him alone, he'd get over his fear. If he ran off because somebody came to visit, and I went after him, he'd only get more scared. With my cat, the biggest problems were visitors and loud noises. If he's given the chance, he'll come back out to investigate after he's scared. Your cat could just need time to get used to something "new," even if it's just, say, a piece of furniture moved from one room to the other. One thing you can do is try to get him by himself and play with him only. He might need some of your undivided attention to realize that he doesn't need to be afraid of you.

Retrain its instincts. Everytime that the animal goes into a scared state, find something that is so interesting to the animal that it's attention is altered. Do it each and everytime the animal enters that state. A good subject of interest? Try a little bit of meat, or another treat, and then immediately change it's focus to "fun." Like playing with a string or something.

Just like we do, cats have different personalities. Let him be who he is. Are the other cats abusive to him or do they bully him? If not, let the situation be. BE LOVING and always respond in a POSITIVE way when he seeks your attn. My ex-husband used to throw one of the cats I have off a balcony every time he got ticked at her. It has taken 6 months for her to act "normal" now that she lives only with me. Please make sure all your cats are spayed or neutered. Now.

That's probably just his nature. Try talking to him in a soft reassuring voice. Try not to make any quick movement around him, to keep him calm. My female cat is very skittish also, so I just try to not make any loud noise or anything that will upset her. Hopefully over time things will get better!!! Don't give up, keep trying. Continue playing with him, throwing his toys around so he will know that you want to play with him.. Good luck!!!

Well to get him to feel more secure, when he runs to hide...leave him alone. Never pull a cat out of his hiding place, its like a safe haven for them when they need to get away. He will gain trust much quicker. I bought this toy thats a long platic clear stick with a long ribbon of fabric on the end, and I would wave it around to get him to come out...

I would give him some alone time. You have to give him the chance to hide in a room.......and then slowly be able to come out and discover it without the annoyance of other cats in the beginning. Eventually, he will work his way out to the rest of the house........just give it time.

Well females are generally evil...... so if your male cat is surrounded by female cats all the time then I'm sure he fears that they will eat his soul.......
