At random times when my cat's asleep, he'll start freaking out, like twitching violently, then even jumping up in the air while completely spazzing out, throwing his head around, fur bristling, then runs like hell out of the room. Why does he do this?

Bad dream; speak calmly and he'll settle down. Put yourself in HIS PLACE, nightmares are disquieting. LUCK from my Stimpy

My cat was on the window sill when suddenly she started twitching & fell of the window sill, my husband & I got scared so luckly our vet was just a couple blocks, but he couldn't say what was wrong with her. About 2 weeks later we took her in her shots, she was so scared that she had a seizure right there in front of the vet, thats how we fould out that she is epeliptic. Now she is on Phenobarital, half a pill twice a day morning and evening. A few months later the vet took her off her medication to see how she would react, sure enought a fcouple days later she had another seizure, so we know she has epilipsey. Of course maybe your did just have a bad dream, I think that if it happens again often maybe you should check with your vet.hope this helps Good Luck

Maybe he's having a bad dream. Maybe your house is haunted and he see's a ghost or something. I think animals see a lot more then we can see. My cat is completely anisocial and I was home alone one day and she was rubbing against my side as I watched tv and all of a sudden she looked towards the end of my bed and fur on end, arched back... growled and hid under the bed for 3 hours.

My cat has little weird spats too. Everything will be fine and then out of the blue his eyes will get really big and he'll run full force around the house, stopping abrubtly and will run back and forth a few times. Maybe he is just getting energy out?

My kitten was sleeping in my lap one day and started twitching like that. I touched him to calm him down and he jumped about 3 feet out of my lap, hissing and tail puffed. I'm sure he was having a bad dream. (It did make me laugh pretty hard though, then I had to wait for the nail marks to heal ;-)
