No on the tylenol. Check with your vet for something to give the cat. There are prescription meds that are made just for these things. My dog is on Rimadyl. She also enjoys the electric blanket and heating pad.

My 22 yr old cat had severe arthritis and was helped by a number of things - shots, some homeopathic medicine etc. Unless you cat is VERY old you don't treat arthritis - and certainly not with any human medication.

I have heard that vets sometimes approve 1/4 baby aspirin every three days. I hardly think that would help a cat much and it WILL damage the liver if given over any length of time.

So if you think your cat has pain (and how do you know this anyway?) you must have ANY medication or treatment prescribed by a qualified veterinarian.

You must not give the cat any human meds for arthritis pain. The vet needs to prescibe the dosage if he feels it will help. It is a very low dose, like 1/4 baby aspirin every third day. And that won't really do much for the cat. Any higher dosage will destroy the cat's liver in short order. I was working with a homeopathic vet with my old cat and she was given some doses of Rhus toxicodendron at the 6C dosage. I think it did help her mobility a great deal.

Besides being toxic to cats, these pain killers (aspirin and tylenol) will not help arthritis pain either in humans or animals. Best consult a vet.

NO - Tylenol is deadly to cats, and aspirin isn't much better. Cats are very sensitive to many medicines that are safe for humans & dogs, so please don't ever give your cat anything without checking with your vet first.

Call your vet & let him or her know about your cat's pain - your vet can examine your cat and prescribe a medicine that's safe for it.

No, any kind of aspirin can be very dangerous and sometimes even fatal to cats. If your cat is in any pain, the best thing to do would be to call your vet and see if he can give you anything for your cat.

Aspirin is lethal for animals. My vet prescribes a liquid pain killer called Metacam which is administered with a dropper. It's easier than trying to give a pill and works really well. Hope your kitty feels better soon.

check with your vet....many medications that are safe for humans are lethal to cats....you might try keeping a warm towel or heating pad (on low) around for your cat to lay on when he's having lots of pain
